I joined the "restrict alcohol" challenge and two others. That one begins tomorrow. Here is what I think.

This is timely. Tomorrow morning school starts. I'll be getting up at 5 AM, driving an hour and a half, sitting in a classroom 4 hours and then driving back home... except on Thursdays, when classroom time is 8 hours.

Not drinking on the nights preceding class is a very good idea. I've been restricting my intake anyway, only one small glass of wine and/or two large vodka and light cranberry juice drinks per day, and those only in the evenings. So not drinking on the day before class - that takes care of four days. Three days left to choose two of. I can do that.

I've read somewhere --on the Atkins diet site maybe?-- that although vodka has practically no calories, carbs, fat, etc, it still can contribute to weight gain or hinder weight loss, because alcohol burns hotter than fat... or something like that. We'll see if this week (or two? How long is this challenge, anyway??) makes a difference.
