So I had a day in the library, the loo was put of order so i couldnt be bothered to go outside and decided to finish the bit of work i was doing before heading out. went wandering round the high street for lunch at 2pm. Was aiming for just a sandwich from sainsburys and crisps, but no good sandwiches. Looked in at the cafe thought i could get a jacket, but their menus become too trendy and modern! So kept walking - passed a mcds, burger king and was tempted as I was starving by this point. Stopped in the pizza cafe, and turned back around. Looked in costa and debated the cheese and tomato toastie, but on white bread so left again. In the end just ended up getting a cheese salad sandwich from the local bakery. And crisps. Pushed against the temptation for a sweet treat, which was difficult esp given all the cute Halloween treats! Not much protein but i see it as a win as i didnt give in to the augar fix!

You know, this resonates with me. I have been in town recently at lunchtimes, looking for a quick, simple lunch eg cheese toastie on brown bread and a decent coffee. Bur quite impossible. I found a wee cafe today and I had high hopes. But what I got was a surly waitress, a ciabatta with cheese, mushrooms and broccoli which was on the turn and I only ate half, no cutlery, no napkin and over £10 to add insult to injury!

Oh Anne, that sounds disappointing! I know what you mean about the cost though, it doesn’t help when you are looking for something healthy and then have to compromise on something you dont really want, and then pay through the nose for it!

Thr key is almost 40 is to have a variety of ingredients at hand at home before hand to make a selection of meals. Ie. Chicken legs (apologies if your vegetarian 🤦‍♀️) Selecting of vegetables Pasta Rice Quick frozen snacks like korean dumplings steam buns pasta cheese balls are good Have NO sweet snacks at home. Only buy them when your out and about but make it rule to eat home cooked d or prepared food. Unless its a special occasion (ie out with friends coffee and cake afternoon for example l. Also no snacking. Eat a big enough meals and you won't feel hungry. Yhe body will get use to it 😀

eating out can be a real problem.... genuinely filling but healthy snacks are few and far between. I resorted today to decaff skinny latte and dry seeded wholemeal toast at waitrose..... not much of a treat but it was nice that someone else made it. bit of a triumph ignoring almond croissants though!!!!

Jacinter you are absolutely right, i find it much harder to eat healthy when I’m running low on groceries and need to do a supermarket shop. And I never usually have sweet/chocolate in the house, as it’s the only way I can guarantee I won’t eat it! My husband said a couple of weeks ago, “its a shame we dont have any biscuits to have with tea” so I thought i’d be nice and get some when I stopped off for bread and milk. But I think he at 2-3 and I ate the rest of the packet! So i’m going to have to tell him to buy his own treats from now on and to hide them from me so I don’t know where they are! 🙈
