Otb, ❤️🩹. I saw the second plane hit from my apartment window. I feel very lucky to live in a country that is safe; free from the terror of war. ❤️🩹 I know not all are this lucky.

I'm sure that's a troubling memory. I'm close enough that we knew plenty of people that lost their lives that day and the panic going around trying to figure out who might have been there or not but seeing it is another level.

Very moving photo. I lived in NY until 1995. The day my boss walked into my office on 9/11 I nearly collapsed thinking and wondering whose lives I knew would forever be changed that day. Little did I know it would be all of us whether or not we lost family and friends close to our hearts. ❤️

Otb, the whole time period is a blur... we were like zombies.. zombies in shock. The strongest feeling connected to that time period is one of gratefulness. Grateful for my life, grateful for the very real, relative peace in which I am able to live my life, grateful to all the people who put their life on the line to keep it that way, grateful for the food I have, running water, my and my family's health and general stability. I have so much. ❤️🩹 So many go without.

honeebuns, what I did in the time period afterwards is hazy; I remember odd details... staring at the TV for what felt like weeks, my disconnected state of mind, like living underwater. It seemed like the whole world stood still and held its breath. However, I remember exactly what I was doing in the moments leading up to it. Right up until the moment I stuck my head out of our top-story window, next to the Williamsburg Bridge facing Southern Bklyn and Manhattan. I could write a complete journal entry of those leading-up-to moments. But as for my days afterwards, I was just a zombie for months.

Another one of the growing times in my life when I know exactly what day and time it happened and what I was doing. Burned in my memory. I’m sure we all feel the same— those of us who are old enough to remember 911 and the ones before that were so significant to our generation.
