It's a shame that I have to get pissed to take action and gain control over my life. But I'm at that point again.

Work is insane, and perhaps it will always be that way. I have to gain control of my eating and exercise habits, because my BOSS don't give a damn about herself, let alone me!

I need a big attitude adjustment and a diet.

Maybe a way of life change and a way of eating change instead of a diet.

Thanks WholeFoodNut! Yes, a way of life change is necessary. I have totally gotten away from preparing my own meals and resorted to eating on the run because I'm away from home so much of the time. I get in late and the last thing I want to do is cook. I'm trying to catch up on rest and house projects on the weekends. It's a bad cycle I've gotten myself into. I'm on the way to the trail now to walk/jog off some steam.

I did the yo-yo thing for years. Doc threatening me with a knee replacement and reg doc saying it would be easier to control my asthma is I lost weight and in shape meant taking a good look at my life and gradually changing a lot of things. The changes had to fit into my crazy life and style of cooking and eating so I can live comfortably on my plan.

Wholefoodnut, you are a gem! So I got out one of my favorite books (dusted it off) It's titled "This is Why You're Fat" The author starts you off by basically adding eggs, protien, fruit and veggies to your exisiting eating plan. What I found in the past is that it crowds out junk food. I'm going to start with this because it doesn't take much brain power. That will be a great help to me right now. I agree it has to be a lifestyle change for certain.

You are so right honey...we have to be personally responsible for our own fitness and dieting goals. No one can do for any adult what they must do for themselves. Its danged annoying though. I want it to be someone else's fault. I just love playing the victim. My best friend always tells me.."Dianne you ain't no victim baby..you are a volunteer". :)

Love that statement about a victim. JJisFit, sounds like you have a good reference and guide to help you. My favorite book to spur me on is Younger next year for women (the Younger Next Year is geared to men), though not a for diet but exercise. My job is also stressful and demanding. I'm thankful it ends when I leave work, though the stress of the day often carries over. I used to be the "boss" in other positions with this company I'm just a peon but work with millions sometimes billions of $$ everyday as a customer service rep for mutual fund co. I have no desire to climb the ladder, been there before. Add some exercise, it helps the stress of the workday melt away. Strength training does it for me, some it's cardio, walking, running, biking, swimming. Eating healthy good for you food will also help as you eliminate the sugars and the chemicals it seems to me the body can handle everyday life better. My body now rebels when I eat much processed foods. I'm paying this am with a headache from my dinner last night.

DianneG, I was playing the victim game and I was LOSING! (not weight either) I even went so far as to blame my boss. Well, I'm coming to my senses...slowly....with your help and WholeFoodNut's help!

OMG WholefoodNut -- I went back to my dusty book shelf and pulled down the following two books "Younger Next Year for Women" and "Younger Next Year Journal" I don't even think I cracked open either of these. Wow, they are sitting up here like two gifts from the past :)

Oh my they are soo good!! Draglist on this site recommended them to me a couple years ago. Really makes you think about working to be healthy as you get older. Everyone no matter how old is always getting older so they are good for any adult. I feel at least 10 years younger than I did 3 years ago.
