Ive thought recently that if my person could see themselves next to a healthy weight person it might register…instead i just pray nightly for realization, strength, desire and determination to hit. Great work you are putting in. The biggest gift you will ever give yourself or those who 🥰 love you. I was so caught up in how miserable i felt for last few years i didnt pay attention or give any thought to how my obesity affected my athletic always-on-the-go hubs. Don’t get me wrong i cant keep up with him but i give him a great run for his money these days. So in healing myself i also healed the part of him that was worried for me. Im proud of your progress. Great great work Z.

YOH... Your person is probably a carb/sugar addict as well. Carbs cause the release of dopamine & serotonin in the brain. They literally light up the same reward center as drugs. Like with drugs, we build up a tolerance to them & need more & more to get that "high". Then, eventually (just like with people who use drugs) one just can't seem to get "high" anymore, at this point it is more of a NEED for carbs/sugar to just get through the day. I'm convinced that is why so many people, especially over weight people, are on anti-depressants & anxiety meds. If that is the case with your person, the only way for them to kick it is for them to decide to for themselves. They have to admit they have a problem. ...and FOR ME PERSONALLY, the only way to do that is kick ALL the carbs (<20 g day). I can't have just a little bit of sugar, the same way a crackhead can't have a little bit of crack. That is why Keto works so well for me. At least I am able to replace the carbs with nice, juicy fat. I guess fat is kinda like my methadone. 🤣

You are right about the carbs. It’s breads, pasta that kind of food and wine. Not sugar so much tho there is always some kind of sugar. Also its the vast quantity. Like 2-3X a serving size. My person knows there is a problem. Pays for a trainer 3X a week and is highly educated but doesn’t want to acknowledge that nutrition is 80% of what we weigh. I know i cannot effect change i can only be frightened over here on the sidelines of something serious happening. Already my persons knee is damaged and causes pain yet this person doesn’t want to acknowledge that the extra 100 pounds is certainly a contributor. I-yi-yi. It’s like any addiction i get it (im the food addict/shopping addict) it’s just awful to watch in someone you love. Tho i didnt really think about it in myself other than wishing i was still fit in passing thoughts. Thank you for responding.

YOH... there is also the case for insulin resistance. 1 in 3 Americans have some for of insulin resistance. I have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes in the past, so I KNOW I have it. Even if a person's blood sugar is normal, that doesn't mean that they aren't producing a butt load of insulin to get it to normal. One has to specifically ask of an INSULIN test, not a blood glucose test.

@YOH Maybe suggest that they go for an insulin test. That may wake them up, because that means diabetes is just around the corner.

Well I’ve asked if there was a pre-diabetic diagnosis and was told no but im not sure i believe the answer i was given. Ive even suggested talking to that persons dr about ozempic or Wegovy as im sure there is prediabetes going on but was shut down. I will probably try and take another run at suggesting an in depth blood panel when i get back from surgery so maybe end of September. In the meantime there is just prayer..

YOH Make sure they ask for an INSULIN test specifically, if you can get them there. Often just a blood glucose is useless, until there are MAJOR problems. Insulin tests are more like prevention. I wish your person well & to wake up.

It's a daily battle. Full disclosure here, after 2020 and Covid hit coupled with my wife constantly giving me grief about my diet I gained back a lot of weight. I will officially weigh-in on the 12th and post numbers, but I totally relate to what you're going through. I'm still going through a lot of the same, I just happen to already be six-months back in on a strict Carnivore diet, and like I've posted, there are A-Holes on this site that just salivate at the thought of anyone on Carb-Restriction failing, just so they can rub it in, "sEe? It'S uNsUsTAiNAbLe!!!" No diet is sustainable if you don't stick with it. Couple that with emotional eating, a predisposition for easy weight gain, and the stress of every day life and bam! It can hit you like a ton of bricks. Keep up the good work, you're doing brilliantly. 💗💗
