Good morning, FS WARROIRS!!! 💜 ✨️ I've decided to add sugar/sweetener free Bullet Proof coffee back to my diet. The coconut oil is great for inflammation (among other thIngs like antifungal, antibacterial, etc...) & the grass-fed butter is a nice source of Omega 3 & Vitamin K, probably some other good stuff in there, too. Plus, it seems hard for me to get enough fat in without overdoing my protein without it. 🙃 I got in a nice walk yesterday & finally finished getting the pool drained, cleaned, and refilled. It was sweltering hot & HUMID here in SC yesterday. Anywhooo... Have a great day, ALL!!! 😘

I understand you can drink bulletproof coffee while fasting and not disturb autophagy. How is your skin looking? I dry brushed my arms the other day because they felt dry and rough. A day later, they were soft and smooth. Also, my nails are crazy strong. I get the sense it's harder for you because you are taking care of other people. I get the feeling that you gain energy from loving others and being selfless. Maybe the roughness is the emptiness that comes sometimes, which think it wants food, but really doesn't. I'm so happy for you that you are taking the time to meditate. I feel that will be key for you. You are doing wonderfully ❤

I have decided to do the same thing Zen, only on my eating days though. I'm not having the issue of my protein going up due to trying to get fats in, my absolute love for avocados is the reason for that, otherwise I would have issues also, but one of the small Haas Avocados is loaded with fat, fiber and potassium and to me...I grew up on Tex-mex food that gave me a love for avocados that has lasted all my life and in previous incarnations of my weight-loss they were not allowed. Tiny - 1.5 - 2 inches in Diameter fits easily into the palm of your hand and you can eat the entire thing instead of having to save half of it for another day. Perfect for filling with Sour cream, olives, cheese etc. BTW, Sour cream, olives with pimentos and cheddar cheese is my recipe for a home made keto version of Pimento cheese. Quite tasty!

oooo, sounds good, I gotta add olives to my shopping list! I may have that Sunday. That's why I love this place, it spurs my creativity in keeping my food choices interesting and satisfying!

That's what I read about autophagy too, Deb. I'm really not hungry right now, but I had it for the benefits anyway. Maybe it will curve my evening hunger as well. 🤔🤷‍♀️ Honestly, when I look at my skin all I can see is aging, probably because it has been a while since I paid myself any attention...lol. I do coconut oil baths often. I used to dry brush, it's been quite a while TBH. It is great for the lymphatic system as well. I an way too well informed not to be doing better. 😕 I will start that back too. Thanks for reminding me! 🙂 Yes, I do spend a lot of time and energy on others. It brings my joy, but I understand that everyone needs self-care time. I try to keep that balance, but it gets a little off sometimes. Just sometimes. Yesterday was one of those days...lol. Meditation is wonderful! It has helped me through some VERY TOUGH times. Thank you for your support, sis! 💜

I need to ask about fat. I understand the value of fat calories not spiking insulin and providing satiety. My understanding is protein also provides satiety. I guess another thing to consider is if one has years of eating seed oils, their blood vessels are sorely in need of repair with healthy fatty acids. There's conflicting information out there. Gundry says all food is only a vehicle for olive oil and we need to be pouring it on everything. Fung says when we have body fat to use as energy, we don't need to add fat (YT "Ultimate Guide to Fasting"). We will burn energy from the dietary fat before accessing fat from storage.

@deb... I know avocados are wonderful. That's why I am trying to acquire a taste for them. I don't like olives either...lol. Thanks for the advice though! 😘

Yes Lady D, I want to burn MY fat that is sitting on my bones, I want to keep my calories up around 2200 on my eating days to boost my metabolism.......but that is a LOT of chewing. So, I may do unsweetened BP coffee just to pump up the calories and make my following meals not have to be so cotton picking large! Even splitting them into three meals per day I still feel uncomfortably full after eating and I don't like that feeling at all.

@Lady, to each there own. All I know is it seems my hunger actually increases with a lot of protein, not raveniously like with carbs, but it's there. I know you have to burn through that first, but I think it maybe beneficial to me (at least when I'm not fasting.

My nutritionist talked to me about bulletproof coffee a while back as I have a hard time getting enough fat in my daily diet. Never did it though ..maybe one day...💜

Don't be embarrassed. Cat2B was one of my main inspirations and source of information when I came on here at 264 lb (also Deb, Erika, and Phil). Logged my lowest weight around 215# before I decided to cut my protein - then things went off the rails. It really is to each their own. Fung tells us fasting won't lower our BMR, but if that were really the case, I think I would be seeing weight loss on my eating days as well. It's hard to really pin it down. I read somewhere that protein causes insulin rise but to a lesser extent than carbs. I think some proteins not used for muscle and tissue repair are stored as a type of sugar? We don't have a storage mechanism for excess protein. It's a lot. This is why I love fasting. Zero calories, zero fuss.

@Diana It really isn't as bad as it sounds, when you put it in the blender of course. Butter and creamer comes from the same souce. I use the coconut oil that doesn't have the coconut taste. 🙂

@Lady 🙂 ... Yes, that's whay I have read about excess protein. I may also be getting too much in one sitting, because only like 30 g can be used at a time for most people. The rest is stored. I certainly remember now! I'm having a hard time remembering Erika, but Phil...🤣 DEFINITELY need him back on here these days!!! He told it how it was! Miss him enormously!!!

I think I was just reaching my goal when you came online, going by the timeline you gave to us earlier. I hit my goal sometime in 2016, then I got sucked into working at a different Post Office in the mornings which lasted over a year and that completely blew me out of the water, it left me no time for anything, leaving the house at 5:30 AM and coming home at lunch with time to take the dogs out then hop in my car and go to my Post Office and getting home around 6, eat, sleep and then do it all again. I was so tired at night that I didn't even turn my computer on. I love my Post Office, but when going to a larger one, with sullen employees and a hostile work environment, threats and a stopwatch running for every step you take. It was as emotionally exhausting as it was physically. So began my losing my enthusiasm for life. That's where I vanished to around the time you began 😒
