I am on this journey for ME, no one else. I will eat what I want, say what I want, and share what I want. I never force anything on anyone, and don't expect anything to forced on me. ✌️

amazing! :) same with my husband of 4 yrs, its a personal choice to be on the path we have taken. its ok to take care of ourselves! ( constantly, i need to remind myself of this after being a codependent to my alcoholic parents. ) enjoy your weekend!!

Thanks, guys! He truly is an amazing man. He works hard while I stay home and homeschool our youngest son who is autistic (aspergers) and legally blind in one eye & doesn't see well out of the other. @Dazey both of my parents were alcoholics too. Fortunately, my grandmother raised me from 5-12 years old. After she passed, I was from here to there. I was COMPLETELY on my own at 16. I have always been SUPER determined to be a better mother than what I had, so I totally know where you are coming from! 💜

@Dazey then, I know you know all too well how easy it is to "lose yourself" also. It takes a lot to raise special needs children the way they should be raised. They need extra everything. Nice to have you with me as a part of this journey! How old is your son? Mine just turned 16.

Mine is 10! We just discovered his Autism last school year., Otherwise beforehand, daily life was a battle. Once i learned about autism, everything made sense about why he is the way he is. He had all the signs, i just didn't know how to read them. Once we, quite literally, escaped his bio dad, it was survival; was constantly moving until i got sober and then met my husband 6 months later. Sensory gear has tremendously helped: noise cancelling headphones, a dedicated space in his room for fidgets, chew necklaces so he stops eating his shirt collars, we have a sensory swing we need to install, and we plan on getting him a weighted vest and blanket too sometime in the future.

DAZEY and Zenus i dont have any personal experience with autism/spectrum children but have seen adults with this condition who were able to lead completely self sufficient lives. Im guessing it’s because they had parents like you both who were actively engaged and working hard to help them. If i were a military person i would stand at salute to you both. Very hard both emotionally and physically to help your beloved children but what a reward they bring to your lives. God bless you and have a lovely weekend.

YOH... You are so right! I was very independent when we met. Life kinda through us for a loop, as it sometimes does, and we decided it would be better for me to stay at home with the kids. Thank you for all of your kind words! 💜 It's just what good mothers do though. @Dazey We found out when our son was 3 years old. As the years have gone by, it has gotten easier. He still doesn't do too well with noise though. He picks and chooses who he socializes with. He just takes to some people & wants absolutely nothing to do with others. I am a firm believer that small children have more natural instincts about people, vibes or whatever, I think he has maintained that instinct. Congrats on the sobriety!!! I am SO glad life has gotten easier for you!!! 🙂

Here's another NSV for you Zen, my hubby the grazer walked into the kitchen this morning in just a pair of shorts, he stretched and rubbed his tummy and said, I think I am losing my belly.....and he is. I cook for him, but instead of the comfort food I used to cook, I have been cooking him what I would eat....if I was eating and even though he grazes all evening on assorted salty snacks, his beer belly that he has retained since his drinking days (back 20+ years ago) is going down and he is not even trying!

@Debra WOWWEEE... THAT IS AWESOME! 😁 I'm pretty sure my baby boy will be losing some weight too, since he's only allowed 1 or 2 junk items a week now. I don't buy a bunch of junk when I go grocery shopping anymore, but I do let him get a couple of things when I go. I but him plenty of healthier snacks that he enjoys like carrots, celery, and fruit.
