Time to set some goals for the weekend. Last weekend was aimless, I decided I need some goals. Rain again! Will do tomorrows in the am. I need to get another 30,000 steps in to meet my 70,000 step goal by tomorrow.

A gym trip sometime today. My reward for doing some much needed cleaning chores in my house; Make some spelt bread to try the new to me flour. Will also try to get some herbs potted, rosemary and lemon grass that need to come inside in the winter. The rain is supposed to quit for part of the afternoon so will put my mud boots on and trim up the greens bed as some things have bolted.

Listening to the flood locations on the weather radio and the thunder. More get added everyday. As the Missouri is getting higher the smaller rivers feeding into it are starting to back up more.

We are not immune to floods in Texas either. Rain free for the last week. I love herbs and want to grow my own. Do you start from seeds? Your doing great and an inspiration.

I've been watching the Texas flooding, I was happy to see not much activity there this week. Instead of the storms coming north we are now getting them dropping down from the north.. Herbs, it depends on the herb. Some grow true from seeds, others are better started from cuttings, those I buy plants. Basil, dill, parsley, coriander and fennel do terrific from seed. Fennel is a perennial so if you plant it just plant a few seeds or buy a plant, it likes to self sow, I fight it all over my yard now LOL. At least it's something I use, it looks pretty and smells amazing. I have several herb beds, one is raised. Slowly moving most of the edible ones to raised beds. I also have some that aren't so edible but pretty. Mints and lemon balm buy one plant and put them where they can spread. I have several kinds. I love cutting handfuls and making tea in the summer, besides using them in cooking. Let me know what you want to plant, I've grown them since the 80's so may be able to help you.

Trying to get motivated. Went outside as the sun has come out between the rain moving in later. I think the humidity is 100% had to stop for some asthma drugs to keep breathing the air is so heavy. Back to my cleaning in a few as soon as the drugs kick in. I'm glad I turned the air on last night. Even if it's just 70 out it's staying on.

No gym, today. Lots of cleaning exercise. I'm still working on my floors, between the tracked in mud (crazy pup is not good at wiping her feet) and the construction leftovers and not being able to access parts of my house because of piled up tools etc. it's taking forever! All is decluttered put away some either in the garage or a few thing stashed in my spare room not much though. It will feel so good to have my house clean and de-cluttered and puppy nose prints off the windows. Now my garage needs cleaning; ;)) actually it already did need it. Still have the kitchen floor to do. The bread is cooking, anxious to try it. Back to work.

Sounds like you have a very busy day planned....I appreciated your comment about working at the family business. I know those who do restaurant work as a family spend way more hours than the rest of us imagine. You just don't open the doors and serve. How did the bread turn out? I make all of our bread in the winter when I have time and am always looking for new bread recipes....especially something that I could have:) Hope that your weekend goes well.

It turned out good though I put a bit too much salt in it. I was figuring on 2 loaves but it turned out to be just one. The spelt flour absorbs more liquid than a whole wheat. It is much more expensive using all spelt than the normal bread I make with stone ground whole wheat so I will do more playing with it.

Glen, you just inspired me to move outside, it's a beautiful morning!! No reason I can't go in my backyard on a weekend morning. No rain last night so my chairs are not soaked like yesterday. Not what I consider dressed, leggings and an old t shirt and no shower yet: I do wear leggings and t shirts to work out in so OK. It's about 80 and breezy here with the honey suckle blooming so it smells like flowers. Time to cover the raspberry bushes, looks like a bumper crop this year if the birds don't get them all. Lots of birds here as well as I have a park and woods behind my house.

Great idea Glen!!!! I've wanted a deck to be able to do this, I have a lovely stone patio I built last year under my maple tree, no reason I can't. For some odd reason people in this neighborhood don't use their backyards, only their front yards. I love my backyard!
