English is a messed up language. It’s rules are broken by itself. Tomb, comb what’s up with those two words. I wonder if the loose lose thing is auto correct going strange. Mine does that with the word some. It always changes it to sone. I have no idea why it does that. Even typing that last bit I had to manually change the word back to some. Or it could be the people are like me, and my thumbs get in the way of typing and it’s just a blunder. Or …. We have a serious issue 

There are all levels of education represented here. Spell check really cannot be blamed on the lose/loose issue, as "Lose" is the first auto suggestion that comes up in the app, and that is usually what everyone means to write. I just ignore it now.  

JB, I wasn't just referring to this app. I see it all over social media. It's gotten pretty common for some reason.  

I know, English doesn't make sense at times. Rules in Spanish are much easier.  

@Cindy, English has some dumb rules. I wish we could update it. I was thinking about it. Loose should sound like lose. Think about choose and how lose should be spelled loose but someone messed up big time. Lol 

You are so correct— written and verbal grammar— then you throw auto correct into th mix, little itty bitty keyboards on cellphones that people are using and we all sound illiterate once in a while. 

My inner English teacher notes all those erroneous spellings, but doesn't always communicate with my fingertips as I hunt and peck. As for loose vs lose, if you eat loosely, you will never lose! 

I see this issue a lot. Kenna & CheeseG are right that with small keyboards & lack of proofreading, there will be typos. JB is also right that some people never learned "proper" English in their education, so they aren't typos. The words are just wrong. I've seen & heard all types of improper words & it bugs me, too. I grew up with English parents & the "Queen's English" was drilled into me from a young age. No curse words, ever! lmfao! So, my understanding of English rules is better than my understanding of French or Spanish rules. I find it confusing with words being male/female, like one thing is male, but another thing is female (le & la in French, i.e., le bus, or la télévision). I don't know how you know which is male & which is female! So, English seems easier to me in that respect. But, I do understand that words that sound the same but are spelled differently & mean different things can be confusing. I guess one needs to memorize those words. Just like I'd have to do with male/female words. It seems to me that we may have fewer words that are confusing? I don't know. One also has to have the *desire* to learn words. IMHO, too many people don't care about how they write or speak English, or even that they sound illiterate. I think that's a shame. Languages are beautiful & if I go to a foreign country, I'm going to try to respect & speak their language. 

In my world of medicine we hand charted, quickly. No complete sentences, just a quick and dirty. Punctuation, forget it.. those bad habits hang on to this day.  

@Kenna, I started in 2009 with the end of paper charts. I probably wouldn't have made it long if they didn't switch to EMR in 2010.  

We used to go to the break room after shift and try to catch up with our charting—- off to right the great American short story..  

And there you have it, @Daddy, proving my point about the lack of education.

every on that don't understand we make mistakes and this place is not for your spelling it is to help people to lose weight you are cracking down on some one do you think that will help them lose weight or do you think it will cause them to eat more because you did that

A bit of a animosity over spelling and grammar? I have one of the most miserable dispositions of anyone you will meet and even I think this is funny. 

Auto correct changes so many words, and sometimes over and over. Morticia changes to North is. And some of us can't spell anyway 

If you didn't pay attention in elementary school and learn the rules we're out of luck. Or, if you're an immigrant those words come out incorrectly when spoken. When you do screw up and make it difficult for me to understand, ticks me off. Relying on spell check, etc. has made some of us lazy because we're inatttentive to what the program actually puts in our comments or we don't know the correct grammar? Shix, ain't worth all this effort to complain about it because nothing will change. Move on.
