So, I started online dating recently. I don't know how other way to meet people. It had been going really good until tonight. I decided to meet a guy from Mexico City who was here on vacation. We went to a bar of my choosing and had a beer there but he insisted we go somewhere else and had something to drink. After he had ordered and ate and drank a bunch of things he said he needed to go to the ATM on the corner of the street and would be right back to pay so we could leave.

I thought he was really nice and I thought the date was going great. He seemed like he liked me and I really thought it could be the start of something.

It turns out he never came back from the ATM. He not only left me there alone without saying bye, but he left me with the bill unpaid. I feel so bad about it. I have a friend that tells me it must've been planned and that he must've done it before but I can't help but thinking there's got to be something wrong with me.

Dating sucks 😖

the movie is a really old one, AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER with Cary Grant. I applaud you for putting yourself out there and making effort to meet someone new. I think you were very wise to pick meeting place and meeting him there. Never let a 1st date insist you go somewhere else, even if you already know them. Safety 1st. I know quite a few couples that met online and are happily married but they all lived within an hour drive and were easy to checkout beforehand. Safety first and forget that schmuck!!!

You women are much safer than my wife. I picked my wife up on our first date. I was in front of her apartment complex where she told me to meet her. She walked up to my car, opened the door and got in. We still talk about that when I warn my daughters never to do that. Don't be like mommy. Lol

Thank you all for the overwhelming support. I always offer to pay my part or pay for the next date. But you guys are right. I should start only going places that don't require paying anything. Thanks a lot! You guys are the most supportive community out there. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

There is nothing wrong with you, this guy is a leach. Hope you reported him. There are other ways to meet people. Some churches have singles groups where people get together. Taking dance lessons offers opportunities. Joining an exercise group at the gym. Volunteering at a non-profit, such as a food bank or an agency that helps with youth groups or the elderly. Join a group that does something you're interested in, like hiking. I recently joined a group called Tea and Conversation (not to meet a man, just to meet interesting people). Get involved with group activities, volunteer at the zoo, or the state park or a local theater. You're doing great with your weight-loss journey, keep up the good work.
