In an interesting twist, the event I expected did not materialize. It turned out to be the 4 restaurants at the little mall offering samples in the lobby of the building. The event was free to attend, but we basically could have been at Costco and gotten the same amount of food. Oh, well, didn't overeat and my friend appreciated the idea of the night out. Eight people in attendance for the little party so we had a good time for a Thursday night with no dancing and no alcohol. Had plenty of time to go to the contradance afterward. Hopefully the pizza won't cause my hands to swell up while I am sleeping.
Picture of stone wall from autumn. The planting bed is 5 feet wide and 20 feet long. It's mostly full now and I not only built the wall I also moved the fill from a pile in the driveway into the enclosure. This side showing is about a foot tall, but the back side is over 2 feet tall because the yard slopes down.
Here's a funny joke about stones:
Ralphie finally died.
His will provided $40,000 for an elaborate funeral.
As the last guests departed the affair, his wife Madge turned to her oldest and dearest friend. 'Well, I'm sure Ralph would have been pleased,' she said.
'I'm sure you're right,' replied Carol, who lowered her voice and leaned in close.
'How much did this really cost?'
'All of it,' said Madge. 'Forty thousand.'
'No!' Carol exclaimed. 'I mean, it was very nice, but $40,000?'
Madge answered, 'The funeral was $6,500. I donated $500 to church. The whiskey, wine and snacks were another $500. The rest went for the Memorial Stone.'
Carol computed quickly. '$32,500 for a Memorial Stone? Wow, how big a stone did you get?'
‘Six carats.’
Have a good Friday!
