Post total-thyroidectomy in June. MD is regulating my medication. Struggling with crazy low hormones and weight gain in the process. She has me starting this app in conjunction with upping the thyroid medication. She obviously wants me meticulous with my logging. Any suggestions are welcome! 👍🏻💪🏻

Logging helps me a lot to stay on track of what I put in my mouth I hope this helps.

There are quite a few dieters here on FS with major thyroid issues. They all seem to eat less than 1300 calories and exercise daily. I would look for someone who has achieved a healthy BMI for tips and tricks, though you can probably get your doctor to refer you a registered dietitian, too.

I can help! I have severe Hashimotos disease and gained a lot of weight because I was misdiagnosed. I had a full thyroidectomy as well. I've lost over 60+ lbs. It will take awhile for meds to kick in and you probably still feel draggy. That feeling will come and go. It is what it is but you can conquer this. Google foods you should avoid when you have thyroid issues.Eat more but smaller meals. It helped me. If you can exercise, do it. Weightlifting was a game changer for me. If you can't do much, walking is good. You need to jump start your system so moving is critical. If you feel extra tired etc get tested. You may need to adjust meds. Best of luck!💜👍

I still have a small piece of functioning thyroid so haven’t needed meds. My dad is on meds. He controls his sugars and stays at a fairly healthy weight without using any “d” words. Lol I would suggest logging as accurately as possible so that you know what’s working for you and what isn’t. I started with high protein low fat controlled cals. Good luck 👍
