This post is in response to golfmarina's comment the other day on my page, regarding differentiating between complex carbs & simple carbs (a very good point!).

Basically, the lower you go on this chart, the more complex the carbs are and they will take longer to break down into 'sugar' in your system, which is a good thing👍

What I am saying is that the calories are what matter if macros are the same when it come to fat gain/loss.

ABTS, that's proof that this infographic is bunk. Watermelon is perfectly fine, as well as any other food if it fits in your goals.

Diablo, maybe you have more recent/current info you could share? I just posted another article on this subject with the study being done in 2012...I sure don't want to misinform😱

Yeah, you still need a calorie surplus. It's physics. Simple sugars do not create energy from thin air. They are not superior.

White rice is the worst for losing fat. Hmm, most natty and pro bodybuilders eat it multiple times a day and manage to get down to 5-6% BF. *Females don't get that low but they also get shredded while eating rice. I recently switched to oats but I haven't had any issues with rice.

Bingo, TheunhealthyDaddy. The leanest populations on earth eat white rice, noodles, etc. The leanest athletes(bodybuilders) eat plenty of fruit and get most of their calories from carbs that break down into sugar.

@-Diablo makes sense. While I want to have more muscle mass, my main activity is walking. I need to work on muscles so until then I will stay low carb.

Thanks Diablo. No offense to Crystal but I really am not a fan of pseudo science with intellectually undemanding visuals that are all over the internet. Sorry if it sounds harsh Crystal. I earned the right to complain as in real life I am forced to remain silent when faced with patients who are armed with this sort of google knowledge and think they know everything, and there are very real consequences to that. I consume white rice and noodles regularly and maintained BMI 19 despite occasional donuts fyi.
