On the way home we stopped for a visit at the Presidio in Tucson. We didn't have too much time, because we had to meet friends for lunch. We will plan a longer visit next time. Very interesting history. Joe and I are ready for battle.

Wifey, that jacket had 3 layers of deer hide, but the original ones had 7 layers that took 14 deer to make. The thickness was used to repel the arrows in battle. Eventually, they stopped being used, when the Apaches started using rifles.

NAVYWIFE, it was very interesting! When they were excavating for the fort, they found the pit house. They are certain there are many more ruins under that entire downtown area, because the fort was originally 11 acres and the native people had been there thousands of years before the spanish arrived.

Mer! So happy to hear from you. 💕 You're so sweet. There are so many places out here in the southwest we still want to explore. Tucson has so much history and we can't wait to spend more time there.
