it's very hard for me to eat even 1000 calories a day let alone my target 2400...i don't know how people manage to eat so much it baffles me...i feel so heavy and sleepy after what for me is alot of food so had to have a nap earlier..i've don nothing all day and i'm still 500 calories short of my target...i do not see how i could possibly eat 24000 when 1900 makes me feel awful and like i am not able to move and have zero energy because it's all going on digestion obviously!

2,400 sounds a lot are you doing heavy weights or on a strength programme or body building Do you need to be on 2,400 calories a day

Sorry just read your journal why don’t you try 1,700 calories and work your way up 1,700 calories is still 200 calories more than recommended for an average woman if your underweight your stomach needs to get used to eating It takes time but your stomach will stretch and you can eat more calories take your time Hope this goes well for you God bless

Maybe it's the type of foods your eating that are making you feel sluggish rather than the digestion? Like if you're trying to up your calories with chips and fried foods they'll probably make you feel more sluggish. Could look up the food first concept to help with weight gain if you haven't already? You could try making smoothies with full fat milk/cream and fruit, use full fat cream in porridge etc. Nuts have loads of calories too. Good luck and I hope you can find something that works for you. Sorry if you were just looking to rant rather than for advice!

There's some good advice in these comments thankyou....1,700 calories will be much more attainable for me and is still more than i would normally eat so i won't give myself such a hard time for not making my target anymore and yes it could be to do with the foods i eat...i've tried cutting out everything over the years even went fruitarian but nothing really seems to make a difference...my doctor has just referred me to a dietician after 25 years of problems bit late but maybe that can help me now

hey - I would agree with the last entry, in that to jump from 1000 to 2,400 is momentous. maybe you wld be able to increase say 100 at a time Iver a few days. work out how that feels and how you accomplish that increase, eg what food or was it just a slightly heavier portion of something. I tweak my intake most days. do you like Avocado, its not filling, spreadable or on a salad. and then increase by another 100 when you feel confident. I understand your overwhelm. when we've had a habit or pattern of eating for years it takes courage and time to make a change. slow but sure. Good luck

Hi Cajor....i love avocado i've got one on my shelf only problem is its gone black :) i rarely get to eat them because i always leave them too long....one day their like rocks 2 days later a black mush but I've put some more in my tesco order (& porridge)...perfectly ripe....yeah right that's what they all say! I tried the frozen ones but didn't think much of that. It's really strange i'm finding the more i eat the more hungry i feel...i wake up starving even tho i'm eating more and feel much better eating much less...often go a day or 2 or 3 without eating and i don't wake up hungry like this...i don't think we need anywhere near as much food as they tell us to be honest...with me i feel better eating small amounts all throughout the day...3 meals a day is very uncomfortable...i always found it difficult to eat at breakfast lunch and dinner but then i've always found any type of routine impossible...this is an unatural habit IMO in the very beggining we would've been roaming around picking fruit and eating it straight from the plant...we would've had more variety and smaller amounts of lots of things...routine i don't believe is good...even the sun rises and sets at a different time each day...every day lasts for a different amount of time...it makes sno sense to go to bed at the same time, get up at the same time, eat at the same time...this is so unnatural...it's against God i'm sure he never intended for us to keep to these routines....he made every single day a different one...the clock was invented by slave owners...Moses led the Israelites out of egypt...
