So, I have insulin resistance and my doctor says I should eat three times a day tops, two if possible. That means no snacks. I'm doing three because when I started the program the nutritionist told me to eat 5 times a day and never skip a meal. So I'm now used to breakfast because apparently if I don't eat breakfast my mind will get all cranky and decide to wake me up at midnight and get a snack. So I'm going with breakfast.

The problem is, I'm failing to consume my calories for the day. I set myself to 1200 but today for example I've eaten breakfast and lunch and I'm only at 450 and dinner is usually 240. I can't eat big meals, I need small portions.

Any recommendations on how to up my calories without adding sugars or any type of snacks? Any help is appreciated 🥰

You might want to look at the FB group called Eat Like A Bear Stories. They have a lot of folks dealing well with the root problem you mentioned.

I’m also insulin resistant. Did a lot of research since previous diets didn’t make me happy always wanting what was not on a list including the foods on the keto diet and multiple others. Read a post and her results of eating was a carnivore diet with great results. Love my meat but again it was a restrictive diet. Found after much reading and watching u tube videos that I could have the best of all worlds. It is called a ketovore diet. Basically The meals include high protein and fats and carbs at 10 or below Results or your test results of your never hungry and finally losing that mid line flab and weight. As you can guess it’s a combined keto diet and a carnivore diet. The one thing I didn’t want to give up was my morning coffee with Dunkin Donuts Extra Extra. My indulgence. Lol. Bottom line is I play with my numbers (foods) so that my carbs are at 10 or below. Only a suggestion If you decide to try it takes a little time to figure out what works as with any diet and patience playing with numbers but don’t get discouraged it comes easier and less time consuming when you get a hang of the whole thing I made it more difficult by having my morning Joe which is high in carbs but again that was my choice and not feeling I’m restricted at all with this diet with losing weight and my mid section flab was my best decision Good luck in whatever you choose

One last thing there is no issue with running in a calorie deficit which you will see in some posts as well as many do intermittent fasting to aid in their weight loss. Just because it’s a 1200 calorie diet if you are satisfied and get your nutrients in for the day there is no need to stuff yourself. Rule of the land has always been you eat until your satisfied and each meal should be filled with nutrients not sugars
