Happy Weight Fluctuation Wednesday🌞

It happens to ALL of us...that moment of disbelief when the scale says we've gained but we've stayed within our calories, got some exercise, and slept 'ok'...so WHAT'S UP?? I used to get SO upset about the fluctuations...and bless your hearts...you always reassured me that it was normal and it would level out and not to stress about it. And you were so right!

That's what I want to reassure the new folks here about. There are LOTS of reasons that the daily weights blip up & down and back & forth!! I still weigh every morning, but I take the AVERAGE at the end of the week to really determine how I'm doing. As far as weighing in here on FS, I have started only logging if I actually lose from my lowest entry.

So keep showing up here!! Don't be discouraged by those bouncing blips! Keep logging, keep measuring, keep moving, keep learning and keep smiling! We're here for each other through it all and beyond! Wishing you success on your journeys today...and EVERY day!

I went to a weekly average a while ago for my sanity. It's still hard to not get wrapped up in one day's reading, but making the average my "official " weight keeps it in perspective

Drink tons of water, eat plenty of fiber, and let the salts and carbs store and release as they please. The scale goes up; the scale goes down. Follow trends, not daily recordings 🤘

Slays me how so many people here weigh multiple times a day and actually freak out because their weight went up. Logic, common sense, critical thinking is not prevailing here.

lol @ Kenna. The practice of weighing multiple times a day isn't motivated by common sense or logic and doesn't encourage it. It's a crutch.

I bloat a lot so by evening I look much larger. I tried on some clothes Tuesday evening and was depressed but this morning before eating or drinking I fit in them.

Thanks for the kind reminder crystal! I admit I’m guilty of getting discouraged by the fluctuations. Maybe I should start weighing once a week instead 🤔

@3dkids...I am so much more relaxed about the fluctuations these days. Like you, I still 'need' to weigh every morning...but I try to keep my eye on the bigger perspective of the weekly averages💙🌞 Have a great day!

@Kenna...that's why I post stuff like this, to help folks understand the 'process' and to realize it's very natural to have the fluctuations. When I first started trying to lose weight, I had NO IDEA about these processes...

With me it's water retention and pasta. However, I'm back down to my last posted weight this morning and not as hungry. Another factor that get the numbers up are the occasional 2-3 days of being really hungry and wanting to eat everything in sight; the see-food diet comes into play.

@liv001...but is the annoyance getting less, the more you learn about it? It still bugs me too, but WAAYY less than it used to! I go back to my food/exercise journal for the day before and see what might be the 'culprit' for the temporary gain...then I can shrug it off🤷‍♀️

It took me awhile to comprehend weight fluctuations so this is awesome info to share! My main issues are menstrual and making sure I drink enough water. I do well on my water intake throughout the week but sometimes fall short on the weekends.
