Making a couple of exciting changes. I checked the Stepz app that I hadn't used in forever. It has still been recording my info in the background. DOGGONE IT! I got so excited typing that after I had typed about four inches of text, I hadn't SAVED the paragraphs, and they just got deleted! I HATE when that happens!

OK, I"m going to start again. My Stepz app has been running in the background even though I hadn't checked it in several months. Come to find out, with doing my price monitoring jobs for an hour in the mornings, I am walking about 350 steps (2/10 of a mile). I've made a monumental decision to deliberately increase my walking to 1,000 steps a day (1/2 mile). It's a small enough goal that I can achieve it inside even when the weather is yukky, just walking back and forth through our long house. On the nicer days, I will attempt to walk outside. My "gateway goal" is to put on my walking shoes every day. First step toward success is just to "show up" every day.

I also made some unexpected progress this morning, and decided to UP an existing goal. For the past week or so, I've been drinking an 8-oz bottle of water after every glass of Diet Coke I have between 9am and 2pm. This morning, after the first DC glass, I drank THREE waters, one right after the other. When I got home, I was so cold (it was 17 degrees outside) that I drank a cup of hot tea (another 8 oz of water). So, my NEW goal is to finish four bottles of water by 10am each morning, and another four by 2pm. (No water after that, because it keeps me up all night peeing - I go to bed at 5pm.)

I will start reporting on BOTH of these new goals on Monday's Daily Accountability Challenge, though I am starting them today. I'm still wavering about whether or not to start completing my Food Diary. Perhaps I'll just start with the exercise and the water and get those habits well established before I add another one.

In 44 minutes, I will have finishing listening to "Atomic Habits" three times in a week. Each time I listen, I have gotten new insights from it, and made tiny changes that will add up to bigger successes.

Today's inspiring excerpt is, "Make a good habit the path of least resistance." I have done this by keeping four bottles of water on the table where I sit in my recliner. Instead of walking to the kitchen and pouring a glass of Diet Coke, it is EASIER to just grab a water from beside me.

I have also put a bowl of washed grapes on the counter and each time I eat one, I say, "I'm the type of person who makes healthy snacking decisions." I probably eat a dozen or more grapes per day, so that is at least twelve "votes" for becoming the person I want to be. The more times I choose a grape (instead of a donut hole, or a cookie, etc.) the more reinforcement I get for my new, healthier habit.

OK, almost time to go to church. I hope you all have a blessed Lord's Day!

That's wonderful, Debbie! Drinking enough water is such a good habit to have. It really helps with everything else you're trying to accomplish too!
