I have a dear recently divorced friend who has a son who has Duchenne's Disease and she has also survived breast cancer. Her son is only 8-9 years old. At their recent specialty visit they learned- he is losing bone density, his heart is failing and he is losing weight for unknow reasons. My heart is breaking for this young woman and I feel so helpless. WHY?? Why does she have to endure this pain and sorrow? I am embarrassed about how I complain about the small crap I go through. Them I see her posts and I am truly ashamed of myself for complaining. Her son will not live past being a teenager. He is dying a cell at a time. He is in a special wheelchair. This woman is so special. She has gone to college while going through these tribulations and has a 4.0 GPA. She is working on her Master's degree and is working as a Special Education Teacher. When her son was much younger- she walked 40 miles to Dover, DE the state capital- to the Congressional Hall to ask and make awareness of Duchenne MS. It was a cold, rainy day. Her feet had bleeding blisters by the end of the day. My point is this- I need to be Thankful for all the things in my life, continue to be kind to others. Focus on the positive and not so much the negative. I am so glad to have the caring friends in my FS Family. AMEM
