Food or fatal? I would have to ask sk, Erq, or Eral66 before touching them. So... I didn't touch, but I sure enjoyed the discovery!

The only possible edible one I recognize is the pufferball. But only if it hasn't gone to spore yet and has a solid firm white inside.

Very hard to identify 100% without sporeprint, picture of stipe, underside of cap and good description of environment. Puffballs are edible but hardly incredible according to some and we see them all the time. The bottom right looks like a Shaggy Parasol but would neec stuff described above; we have them on our property and some say they are delish when young. 🤷‍♂️ Also read some can have trouble digesting so we haven't tried ours yet.

These are non-edible and that is not a shaggy - Be Careful - do not eat those and be careful of even touching some of them - Nice show though - wow that is incredible and very beautiful photos.

I have eaten lots of shaggy manes and that is not a shaggy mane though it appears to be but it has the wrong shape...the shaggy is elongated. Be Careful.

That is right, Arkiehuntres! You are a mushroom gathering lady too! I am not and don't even touch them, but they are cool and pretty to look at! It was very fun to "hunt" for them to take pictures anyway!!! 😁

Princess, today the walk was "littler." Only 9 miles rather than 12 like yesterday. But, it was in the woods hiking, so it takes longer and was a bit more strenuous. 😁 I'm going to post a forest walk pic too when I have time. ❤️ It was so nice!

Very pretty pictures. Of course, I wouldn't eat any wild mushroom. Gotta have a business to sue if I get deathly sick. 🤗

The one on the bottom right could be a shaggy lepiota which is very good, but causes gastric upset for some people. I never tried the puffball, my guide says the perlatum (this one) is excellent when young. I vote for mycena pura on the purple ones (how big were they?) Contains muscarine, like the well known fly amanita, so no good, unless that's what you're looking for.

We were at dinner one night at the home of some acquaintances and she served mushroom soup as the first course. It was quite good and we were commenting on it, when she told us she had picked the mushrooms herself. By then we were half finished eating the soup and we all suddenly, and very nervously, lost our appetites. I guess she knew what she was doing, because no one suffered any ill effects, but we never dined there again.

😂 It's the kind of things you should say before you serve the soup. 😂

Melissa - "All that the Rain Promises and More..." wiitten by David Arora is a great hip-pocket guide to mushrooms in our area. At a minimum, it's a great book to enhance your knowledge of mushrooms. However, you will also soon realize that many shrooms are difficult to ID 100% so be cautious. Knowing how to discern the lookalikes is key.
