OK, I read things on other journals and was going to post a reply but then thought a second time about against it because I did not want it to seem like I was saying anything against the people who wrote it. One thing I have learned in life is that we all see things differently and in our eyes, through our perspective, these are truths we hold until proven otherwise. So you should think long and hard the way you talk to someone because words really matter – and once they are written or spoken, it is not often easy to retract them.

I spend a lot of time reading and researching – most of the time about laws and events in my local area but also things around the country and internationally. I always believed in being a full person. “Being all that you can be”

Very early on, while I was in the military I had realized the media wasn’t always as factual as they should be. Roosevelt coined them the “Muckrakers.” Over the years, that has extended to include the doomsday forecasters and bad news bearers, but some of them, over dramatize the news. I assume it is for the ratings or to sway public opinions, not always to bring you the unbiased news reporting we should receive so we can make up our own minds logically. Our country was established on individualism, believe it or not. It was also built on capitalism and not democracy but a representative form of government. So I am OK with not agreeing with everything done in government, but I really am not OK with lying to the American people, although propaganda has been around for years as well as abuse of our systems.

So I am a little skeptical of some reports and when I hear or read some things – most things – until I can check them out or confirm them from multiple sources. Last year when I got back from Sturgis I read about how it was the "super spreader event" then after there was an investigation into the report they found out that the rate of infection that could be linked to the rally was .002%. This year before the rally was even over they were saying the same thing again. Most of the people I knew there were vaccinated. Now a few facts you should know about the Sturgis bike rally – this is not a one town even. It stretches from Wall, S.D. to Spearfish, S.D. including Rapid City, Mt. Rushmore, and several other areas. In all I would estimate that bike rally covers and area over 300 miles. Of course the majority of pictures you see are those where there are a lot of people, especially these days because that is what the media wants you to see but if you are a biker you know the point of that rally is the riding and the scenery. Of course to be fair, there is meeting with fellow bikers and sharing the brotherhood or sisterhood. But how can someone say this was a super spreader without any subjective data? Last year, at the peak of the pandemic we saw nothing. And mind you – the coronavirus is not the death sentence the media portrays it to be. True, it isn’t pleasant, and it does kill people, that is undeniable but put it in perspective with all of the other diseases and ways of losing your life.

Now, I also know a lot of people in the healthcare profession. I see these reports about them quitting in high numbers. All of them that I know have been vaccinated and not one has quit over this pandemic, however I am sure – thinking logically – there must be some that have quit and may not have been vaccinated but in the third most populous country in the world, you should expect large numbers regardless of what is going on. The healthcare profession is a lot more difficult than many might suspect. It isn’t a bunch of people just walking around drinking coffee all day – they work their asses off, and it is 24/7/365!

In New York, we had been hit especially hard and my wife works at one of the largest regional hospitals in this area, so I don't know – many posts I am reading sounds like hysterics or from those exaggerated news items. I, once again, have to fall back on life experiences, when I was in the military and we would get the news corps out where we were – they would come in, do a few interviews, get a few sound bites, then after listening to their reports, it often left us scratching our heads thinking where the hell did they come up with this stuff?

Anyways, that is all I have to say on the subject. Again, sorry to bring you all down with such an emotional post but it seems lately I might be getting a little TOO political. I may need to take a break. Life my be getting to me.

PS: sorry for the typos. I made a couple mistakes because I didn't read it over. As I finished this post, I received some news that diverted my attention. Reading your responses, I see you understood my frustrations. Thank you all. I can't Express my great appreciation for knowing there are others out there that feel the same as I do. That is so encouraging. God bless you all.
