Tonight when I got done working late and running errands I discovered that my strawberries were ready to be picked for the first time. Approximately two quarts of strawberries picked...score! Then I had to find the netting I used to keep the birds away last year. It has too many holes in it...so I need to get some replacement netting. The old stuff is over them for now. Hopefully that will deter the birds. Love getting fresh stuff that is all natural from my own gardens. Let the work begin.

Although I have to not over do with strawberries as they sometimes cause allergies to flare, I do envy you harvesting some produce already! Wow! Can't wait for my cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, cantaloupe, and hopefully watermelon! I'm with you, love fresh produce!

Yay!! I've been trying to find netting for my raspberries to no avail. Have to come up with a solution this weekend.

We found raspberry plants on the edge of our property this year as well. There used to be a raspberry patch...but I thought it was choked out. Well they must have worked their way around the fence line and now are a ways away from where they started. I can't remember when raspberries produce in Minnesota. Will have to keep an eye on them I guess.

We used to have fence rows full of wild or maybe planted in the past raspberries when I lived in the country. They were so good and there were enough my kids feasted on them; I never had leftovers to preserve. Last year I ate about a dozen of them from my yard, the rest the birds devoured, I'm trying to save some for me.

Deja vu! We have a raspberry patch. Can't wait. Strawberries are great. High fiber low calorie. We will go out again this year and get 20 gallons or so of wild huckleberries. Have to compete with the bears. I take a rifle. I also harvest other stuff. Here, moosie, moosie, moosie.

Took funny competing with the bears for huckleberries!! Be careful!! My 3canes have turned into a large thicket over 5 years, they keep spreading.

Hoofta. They're awesome. Sweet, dark purple, kind of a cross between a blueberry and a.... hmm. They're awesome. No seeds. Wash 'em and.... oh no! Pies! :( Great with just a little cream too.
