I am getting back to eating properly and exercising regularly. The hospice crew is making things more manageable. I live about 30 miles from my dad so making fewer treks up there has allowed me to be here more for my teens, my younger especially. She is taking her driving test on Monday and we needed to practice a little. She also needed new clothes. With all going on with her grandpa, she didn’t even complain that her jeans were falling apart at the seams. We are back to eating as a family as we have done most nights for the past 19 years. We had grilled fish, steamed squash, sautéed mushrooms, and oven fries. The sense of normalcy was necessary.

Stay strong and so glad you are finding some balance. Hospice is wonderful and were truly so supportive when we neared the end thru the loss of my Mom.

Coming together as a family for dinner is “comfort supreme”. There’s a peacefulness even if you are arguing. 🙏

Absolutely, Sarah. It’s one of the few decisions I have made as a parent that I have 100% confidence in!

It's good to get back into a routine. Sorry hospice is needed. My girl is learning to drive too but I can't go with her. I am too nervous. Thankful her dad takes her out.

DP I’m so glad I’m not the only one that’s not teaching my kids to drive. I just couldn’t. I feel like you just too nervous and I made it worse for them so their dad does it too. 😏

DP and Wifey I am the calmer one so I “get” to teach her to drive.

And I love family mealtimes too Danana. It’s priority for us as well. There’s less and less of it now, sad to say as the kids are now adults and both work and shifts are all over the place but we do it as much as possible and I love it. ❤️

Wifey, my oldest is 19 and rarely here for anything more than a pit stop, but we still have our 17 year old so family dinner is a regular thing. Now that I have help for Dad I expect we can get back on schedule although after many hours at Dad’s I am eating ice cream for dinner. At least I stuck to the portion size. I am calling that a win.

It’s difficult caring for an ill family member, and your family at the same time. When my mom was facing her last illness I felt pulled in all directions, between my job, husband, 5 kids, and the youngest who was still nursing! Thank God my elder sister had a job she could get reduced hours when mom was in hospital. It was still rough just trying to fill in so she could go home , eat dinner, take a shower, and sleep a bit! Then her head nurse suggested mom go to hospice as she had my sister running all over town buying her things that made no sense. Her doctor agreed. And the hospice area was right behind the hospital. So easy to transport mom. The first thing the head nurse said was stop buying all these goofy things. It’s a huge expense and she has no use for them. It took us 5 or 6 trips using both my car, and my sisters car to get all the stuff to my sister’s home ,and I had an Expedition! And it was chock full each trip!! I mean she wanted my sister to find an Irish sheleighly, and we are Italian!! She only was in hospice less than a week, and they treated her like a queen. But best of all my sister got some much needed rest. So I really do know what it’s like being torn in two. Plus trying to keep a healthy eating habit. My thoughts and prayers , are with you, and your family.

Thanks bgr. I am also Italian and my dad is a stubborn hothead, but he is nice to the hospice staff. He would love to actually go somewhere for hospice, but Medicare is only covering at home care. His girlfriend generously lets him live with her and he treats her terribly. It’s a stressful situation at best and trying to stay focused on my wellness plan is a challenge at best. I am taking everything one day at a time.
