Well, I've gone up a couple of pounds, but after that "Weekend at Bernie's," I'm not surprised. Too much rich food, too much fine wine and liquor, I'm glad it wasn't more. But I'm back home now, where I can control the content and amount of what I eat. I've also come to a crossroads in my life, which I'm using to mark a new beginning. I've quit my job. There. It's done. I no longer have the stress of working a full-time job anymore, or the stress of my supervisor hounding me every minute of the day. I can now use that time to study for the MCAT, and I now also have the space in my life to do the internships I need for my MPH. If God is with me, my next job will be in public health, and I can get credit toward my internship requirement from my job, in addition to a formal internship. I feel like I also have time, energy, and space in my life to focus on my health and my body, and to get my house in shape. To learn some new life-habits (like putting things away and getting rid of stuff), and clear out the old baggage of my life that is holding me back from achieving my dreams. The dream of medical school now seems so much more real, more possible, more doable. Next, I need to fill out the FAFSA, start my medical school and osteopathic college applications, and work on my essays. And right now, after I finish logging me meal for this morning, I start studying my MCAT flashcards in earnest!! Today? Glycolysis and cellular respiration and the Krebs cycle!!
