Some info about my personal experience thus far. My first visit to the The Piatek Institute. www.jaymd.com was November 17, 2010. My Weight was 269lbs. I have made it through a vacation to Hawaii, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years which are all pretty much guaranteed diet killers and today my weight was 235lbs. Pretty amazing to have dropped that much weight in that very specific period of time.

What this doctor/clinic does is actually figure out what is going on with your specific body. My family physician used to make me so angry. He would tell me “Jeff, there is no secret about losing weight. Just eat less.” When I went to Dr Piatek, he was able to figure out what it was that was making my body crave specific foods and not have any energy. He was also able to figure out why my body was converting so much of what I was eating into fat. In other words he took the time/knew what to look for and actually figured my personal body issues out!

Through my lab work he noticed that I had one very specific issue going on which was affecting my energy level and making my body convert most of what I ate to fat.

With the two meds I am on, I do "eat less" and actually feel like getting off the couch/exercising. Not only that, but I am now off of blood pressure med and off of two of the three diabetes (Type II) medications. There is also an 80% chance that after I drop another 11lbs I can get off that last Diabetes med.

I still eat/enjoy the same foods I always did but do not have that "crave" feeling about them. The difference is that I actually get full now. Instead of three of four items off the Taco Bell menu, I now just get one. Instead of 3 or 4 pieces of pizza I now just eat 1 or 2.

Since I have been going a friend of ours has gone to visit him. Her specific issues were very different than mine. He has her on two different meds. On her two week follow-up visit she had already dropped 10lbs. An old friend of mine went to his clinic two and a half years ago. He dropped 70lbs and has been able to keep all the weight off for 2 years now.

It is nice to know that there are some doctors out there taking the time to study and treat obesity.
