Good morning and Happy Monday. Last night I attended our movie group's Academy Award party. We haven't gotten together as a group since January 2020. I was pleased to have lost the 30 lbs so that I could see these people at the same size I was when we last got together. That was a big plus and I wore my new jumpsuit, too. The biggest bonus was that I went to the party with no anxiety, no voices in my head stressing me out about what I was going to eat, was I going to over eat/destroy my diet, blah, blah, blah. I went there with a confidence heretofore unknown to me. I didn't go straight for the wine to help buffer my uncomfortable feelings about being judged for my weight, my veganism, my whatever. I didn't have those feelings. I have somehow learned to trust myself, to be committed to my health goals, and have learned a greater confidence. It's like those voices I have lived with for ever-I call them my inner junkie, or inner Towelie (from SouthPark)-have been replaced with an inner coach or my inner Ride or Die B*tch. Another bonus was that all the guests brought some form of salad or veggie dish. Everything was surprisingly vegan, except for one salad that had egg yolk in the dressing (why?). I ended up having loads of veggies and filled up very quickly. I did notice how oily everything was, though and that was a big turn off. Once you cut the oil out of your diet it is really noticeable. I can't wait to see what the next few weeks bring as I simplify the food again this week.
