okay. so...
here at work.
earlier today our doctor came in for his shift and asked if there had been a power outage. when told no, he said that when he was getting out of his car he saw a bright flash and heard a sound like a shotgun blast. when he turned to see what had caused it, he saw a squirrel falling from a power pole.
doctor and a couple of our nurses outfitted an expedition and managed to find the squirrel, though, alas, too late for any medical care to help it.
shortly after, we find out that our ct scanner was down. called in a repair guy, who finally showed up 6 hours later. it turned out that the exploding squirrel had caused enough of a power surge to overload some of the ct's circuitry.

As a former trauma nurse, I am sitting here LMAO because I could so picture a day like this on my old unit! Poor squirrel!

Jeanine. To be accident prone is one thing, but to be so accident prone they'd call you a trauma nurse... well that's just insane. Tim. We live up north. I like the outdoors but my wife if a complete addict. We hunt moose in the fall together and she has gone out and shot deer, dressed them and gotten them into the truck by herself which is no mean feat; she's 5' 2" One day we were down south in the city and we saw a shower of sparks ahead of us. When we got there we realized a Canada goose had stepped from a powerline onto a transformer and grouded itself. She jumped out of the car and went over just as a guy came around the building with a big scoop shovel. She looked at him and smiled and said "I've got this", picked it up by the leg and tossed it into the big steel trash bin. She looks great in a dress too. Don't ask how she cleans grouse.

Love it!! Work in an Emergency Department...so can see that happening...except it would probably really be the gun shot!

The tragic irony it is for a squirrel to be of one of the few who happened to suffer an accident near helping medical personnel and, yet, an inevitably fatal accident. Unfortunately, no measure of human intervention can help men or animal from certain things

Aww poor squirrel. Had one get into a transformer behind my house one day when I was working the yard. Whole top of the power pole burst into flames. Luckily fire wept is close by. We were without power for most of the dy.
