Completed Day #12 at 10pm last night. So, I've gone 12 days and 7 hours (or 294 hours) without food, only drinking water. This morning, I am confident that it is the day to begin eating again, to break my fast. I had absolutely ZERO weight loss this morning, which was actually a predetermined sign from God that it was time to start eating again.

I will begin, as some of my EIGHT books have suggested, by eating 1 oz. of unsalted almonds. Then, for breakfast I will have 1 scrambled egg with cheese (I would usually have TWO) and 2 pieces of bacon (I would usually have 4). Breakfast is at 5am, lunch at 10:30am, and dinner at 3pm.

I will be continuing with Intermittent Fasting, only having OMAD on Tuesdays and Fridays. ON those days, I won't be eating UNTIL 3pm, after having stopped eating at 2pm the day before. I will also NOT be having any snacks! Previously, I would have 400-600 calories a day, just in snacking. I will have dessert (usually sugar-free) as part of my dinner meal, eating within that same 1-hour window.

I give all glory to God for making my fasting time so easy. It was definitely in my OWN strength. NO caffeine-withdrawal headaches, NO hunger, NO adverse side-effects (except the mild dehydration that one day, which I rectified by adding salt to my water).

NOW, the hard part begins - Eating, with ZERO snacks between meals, continuing to abstain from Diet Coke, and not OVER-eating. Let the games begin!

@woofwaggers, 15-1/2 pounds. It's common to gain a couple of pounds (up to 5) in the first few days after ending a fast, because of water weight and food in your digestive tract. @DLynneGardner, one of the books I read was by Dr. Fung Very informational. Thanks, @Eidetiker! So far, so good. Breakfast and Lunch accomplished without over-eating, and no Diet Coke.

After 3 months on this site it is interesting to see naysayers on here. I love the way the community pushes back on that. I know some of the dietary choices have controversy around them but I've noticed most people on here put a lot of thought and effort into their choices. Debbie, as you said, you made an informed decision. While fasting may not be for me seeing your strength and resolve is nothing short of inspiring. As a man who is finding his way back to god seeing you lean into his grace is a blessing. Thank you for shining your light on this community. And thank you for allowing God's light to shine through you.

Debbie, I am so proud of you for the fasting, for the cutting out snacks, for the cutting out diet drinks, and for your attitudes and beliefs in God's grace. You have been an inspiration and help to me since I joined over 2 years ago. Your prayers for me and encouraging words have been invaluable. I agree with DlynneGarner,jmmiepop, and the others that are holding you up. I joined mainly for the health benefits of intermittent fasting for my brain, and it's one of the best things I have ever done for myself. Yes, it will be hard for you to control your food, but you can do it. Love ya.

I have so many questions about fasting. Just doesn't seem like a healthy option to starve your body of nutrients like that. Can you explain, and what do dieticians and/or doctors have to say about it?

@lorielundgren, read The Complete Fasting Guide" by Dr. Jason Fung, one of the foremost authorities on Intermittent Fasting (but he touches on the other forms of fasting, too. @Snowwhite100, it's only by God's grace that I've been able to be a blessing to ANYBODY over the past year and a half, while I had been totally out of control. Thank you for your kind words. Aww, thank you, MeltMyGut! I'm so happy to hear that you are "a man who is finding his way back to God! I've been praying that I can be more of a testimony for God, and PTL He seems to be answering that prayer. I’m really not a nay sayer, to each their own, but 12 days without food is really not good for your body. Once you start loosing fat, then the body starts eating away at muscle if it’s not getting nutrients. I wish you luck with that, but please keep an eye on your health.

I share Roberta's concern. I had a friend who did a week-long fast several times, and she did lose weight at the time, but it really screwed up her metabolism. Her body kept thinking she was going to starve herself so it would retain more fat to store it up. In the end, it really made it hard for her to lose weight.

My first thought was that 12 days sounds crazy, but I only thought that because I know I would never be able to do that. Congrats to you on developing your own plan based on your own research and successfully committing to it to improve your own health with such conviction! 👍

Consider 1-2 cups of sugar free jello as a snack. It is always in my fridge for those moments when I think I need something before bed. I also put a few tablespoons of sugar free whipped cream on it. It has saved me from destroying a great day of following my food plan many times.

Thank you! I will look those up. Just today I received "Diabetes Code" (I don't have diabetes and I believe I never will, but many in my family, past and present, do), and "The Longevity Diet" by Valter Longo, PhD who promotes his "fasting mimicking" products, but also has a lot of great information promoting fasting for the many health benefits, including achieving autophagy.

Great job Debbie, be careful how you break your fast though...go slow! You may want to consider doing a gall bladder flush before you start eating again....there’s info. on this at fwchiro.com.
