Congratulations to all my new mothers out in FS land! It is neat to follow your journeys and then see the beautiful results!

So, I finally bumped UP my RDI to 1300. It seems counter-intuitive to eat MORE to lose weight but I know and understand why it may help me. I am going up slowly to see what happens.

But the Winter has made me want more carbs more often and that seldom helps! Last night I ate half a small bag of Pirate's Booty crunchy stuff. Not super unhealthy but a million carbs!

Great workout yesterday though...lots of upper body work and I can see I am getting stronger!

Its hard to bump up calories without putting my carbs over the limit. Still working on that.

I have tried the increasing your calories thing, especially when I was working out every day and my trainer was telling me I needed to up the protein, etc. It has never worked for me. I have found that, to lose weight as I get older, I do indeed have to eat less. It's just how my body works. But I believe we all have different requirements so here's hoping it works for you!

This winter does demand more carbs, doesn't it? Carbs make my body demand more sugar. Vicious cycle ... bring on the spring!

@ evelyn64: I KNOW exactly what you mean which is why I am hesitant to eat more than I already do - and my trainer also insists I need more protein and more calories....hmmm...she is not past menopause with thyroid so what the hell does she know, right? LOL...i have eaten more protein in the past and seemed not to lose more. I think my big challenge is quality of the calories - not so much the quantity.

You need the protein to build muscle or to keep the muscle you have, if working out. Proteins are the building blocks of muscle.

Strong muscles burn more calories. I love your positive attitude. It really is a life long learning so just keep doing what you are doing and you will figure it out.
