I weighed myself on February 1st and don't plan on weighing myself until March 1st. I am usually addicted to the scale when following a diet, often weighing myself many times a day. I kind of like this. I don't worry about drinking water late in the day or even overnight knowing it will impact the scale when I get up.

On the other hand, I remember when I was doing Weight Watchers many years ago. The meetings were Thursday evenings. Some of us would go out to eat after the meeting! And I often did what I wanted on the weekend knowing I had Monday - Thursday before being weighed again and I would usually be fine. Can't do that with this weigh in schedule. Other than the first couple of days when I ordered pizza I have been doing okay. I'm hoping my theory of sticking within the calories to maintain my GOAL weight will result in weight loss until I get there. So my goal is between 1400-1700 calories a day. So far I don't even usually reach 1400. Because the plan also includes trying to have a maximum of 20 or so fat grams that eliminates lots of calories. The butter I had on toast was high in fat. I've been having 1/2 bagel for breakfast with lower fat cream cheese. What really hurts as far as fat grams is the almonds and avocado I'm used to eating. I know they have the "good" fat. But that is for cholesterol readings. Not sure about keeping fat low for gallbladder reasons. I have an appointment coming up this month with the specialist and I'll ask him about olive oil, nuts and avocado.

My dad used i can’t believe it’s not butter spray on his toast after his bypass. One of the only areas where he stayed compliant. He liked spraying his toast. 🤣

If you love almonds and avocado, try some sort of keto diet. 🤷🏽‍♂️ just a thought

Katsolo - I used to always have the spray in the refrigerator and used on popcorn and even baked potatoes. Never tried on toast and I stopped buying it when my doctor stressed to avoid processed foods. Thanks tandtr - I have to do low fat for health reasons and I wouldn't do Keto anyway. I can't give up carbs, it's easier for me to reduce fat.

Your plan to weigh in once a month seems like a good idea for you. And asking your doctor about the types of fat you can eat is also on point. I predict you are going to advance towards your health and weight goals 👍🏻

Maybe focus on what your doc says you can have rather than what you can't? How's Bobby? Still going for walks?

2 things that I'd like to point out: Forget the scale, bc sometimes you will lose inches and not weight, which is in my case and has always been the case. I am very muscular and I will increase muscle when I work-out. Muscle weighs more than fat so, I don't put my aspiration in the scale. I weighed myself, after one week of being on here, and guess what?! I didn't lose not even a lb., but my clothes, that I couldn't get into, for quite some time, now fits better and I feel better putting them on now. Also, h2o is very important for all individuals for life. It's something that should be regarded as the "Fountain of YOuth". Don't diet for superficial benefits, diet bc your life depends on it. Do what is right for your body, not your looks. Once you eat properly, your body will show it. After all, we are what we eat....(I always tell me little nephews/nieces this)....That's why I eat nothing but "beautiful" food. LOL

Thanks Eva - I almost stepped on the scale this morning, then decided against it. Really want to wait until March 1st. Liv - I have had any gallbladder attacks for quite awhile. And it does seem to be after eating heaving meals and getting full. So I try to keep the portions small and stop before I feel full. And usually if I eat high fat foods nothing happens. But when I've had the attacks they are so bad that I don't ever want another one. My doctor says losing weight will also help with the gallbladder issues. Katsolo - the doctor says low fat so I can figure that out. He always wants me to eat a plant based diet. I just haven't been able to get there. So I am watching the fat. Bobby is fine and I don't walk him every day like I should. My routine is all out of whack because of the new kitties in the house and the sick cats. The insulin shots at 5am and 5pm. Thanks Slow Meta - appreciate the ideas. I have been yo yo dieting for so long. Hoping to end it this time which is why I am avoiding the scale except for once a month. Diana - it is nice not to be so obsessed by the scale. I suffer from insomnia and now if I want a cup of tea at 3am I can have it because I don't care if the scale will be higher with the extra 10 ounces of liquid in me.
