This is so frustrating sometimes. I was speaking with the doctor that is working to help me in the battle with my weight. It has been a long time since I was below the 180's. I guess more importantly than that, is my body fat content. According to the percentage of fat and BMI I am considered "overweight." Being overweight is as much of a problem as is the muscle to fat ratio. I want to get the muscle percentage right but the thing that is easiest to work on right now is the weight – eating right and more weight loss should lead to a better ratio, then being lighter should make it easier to exercise which likewise provides a positive effect on muscle tone. At this point I have to address the issue of sleep apnea. Sleep is an important factor in all of this, apparently a lot more than I had previously thought. If I don’t address this issue history will repeat itself and I will remain where I am. I contacted the sleep center where I had the study done years ago and I’m trying to update my equipment so I can start using it again. I used to have a hard time getting to sleep using it because the mask was so bulky and the machine itself made so much noise, so I just stopped using it. I was told by my doctor that the machines and masks are now much better. The pumps are a lot quieter and they have masks that are not even masks, they are simple breathing tubes like used in the hospitals. I guess I shall see. I have to say something here also about the Veterans’ Administration. I don’t know how it is in many parts of the country, but I use the system here in Western New York. A couple of years ago the entire VA system was under a lot of criticism. I have to stand up for them. They do an excellent job. With all of the different illnesses and treatments for issues that you can imagine relating to the military to illnesses such as the Coronavirus. This organization has such a tremendous workload. They do a great job and as far as the one I am associated with, they always make me feel like the people working there are glad to be of service.
