I keep on going over my limit !

I'm not sure what to do I feel so icky about it too. I went over almost 300 today. Should I limit myself to 600 calories and then go down from there ?

Any advice on what to do,,,,?

I usually don’t have success losing weight, but I am limiting myself to 1,200 calories per day, spreading those calories across six meals and snacks. I’m also drinking the right amount of water. So far, I’ve dropped quite a bit since January 1st. (I just haven’t posted my weigh-ins here.) Maybe something similar would work for you?

Please clarify, are you limiting yourself to a total off 500 calories daily? That may be working against you, causing your body to store fat more.

You may want to consult a couple of calorie calculators. By answering a few questions you can come up with a reasonable daily intake starting point. From that point, if you do not loose about a pound per week might adjust from there. I don’t think it’s healthy to limit yourself to the calories you have mentioned.

I am paying myself $1 every time I eat less than 1000 calories and 50 cents every time I I go over that but stay below my RDI of 1203. The money goes into I new clothes cache. Very good motivation!

I'm a little bit concerned by a couple of things presented here. 1. 500 calories is far too low a goal (most nutritionists will not recommend lower than 1000). 2. You feel icky about exceeding your limit of 500 calories. 3. Your current weight is within the healthy range for an average woman. Without knowing your exact measurements I obviously can't say this for sure, but the extremeness of your diet compared to your weight is not really making sense to me. You're borderline starving yourself and then feeling bad about it afterwards. This is very concerning for disordered eating. I would highly recommend speaking to a professional who can help you to reach your weight goals in a way that is physically and mentally healthy, if you haven't already.

I agree with she_loves. I used to have an ed and having a goal of 500 calories is not a healthy daily calorie intake goal to lose weight. You will end up getting headaches, mood swings, and hopefully it will never becoming a habit because it can be deadly. An adult would likely need more than 500 calories a day just to function properly.

I agree, 500 is not a healthy goal for an adult. you probably should consult with a nutritionist. Especially if you are working out. You are depleting your body of essential nutrients.

600 calories? Yes, if you want to hurt yourself and get on the binge and restrict cycle. I don't think it's recommended to eat so few calories. No. Eat as many as calories as you can while still maintaining a deficit that allows you to lose weight at a reasonable, healthy, sustainable pace. Decrease a bit (100-200 calories at a time, no more) occasionally if necessary, but do not fall into crash diet zone.

Agree with she_loves and please, people, do not encourage unsustainably low and not recommended calories, and disordered eating patterns, which can morph into a full-on eating disorder.

500 calories, I am 130 pounds and eat over 2000 calories for weight loss and between 2500-3000 for maintenence

Hmmm. If you had your calories set at something normal- you'd be well under. Unsure if you are seriously asking or if this is a fake account. So crazy!

600 is malnutrition and when you’ll start eating normally you gain like crazy, 2000 minimum and walk/run/ lift when ever you can, it’s not about how much you eat but what you’re eating, try to get 8 hours of sleep too.

it depends. how old are you and male or female? active or sedentary? all these things contribute to how many calories you need in a day, but if you start with a starvation mode, your body isn't going to give up weight easily. you need to eat more and start moving.
