The RV life is not all fun and games. Our camper broke. An equalizer on one of the axles broke, which means we can't move the camper until it's fixed. We're having it towed tomorrow, 160 miles south to a shop that can fix it. However, it may take a few days. The worst part is we won't be able to stay in the camper while it's at the shop (for insurance reasons), so ...
We're going tent camping until it's fixed.
We thought about getting a motel room, but with Covid going on, and since Kevin has asthma and terrible allergies, we decided we'll just take a "real" camping trip. We're staying at a campground like we do all the time, so there's a level of comfort there for us. We'll just be tent campers instead of RVers for a few days.
I didn't let the mechanical and residential issues we're having stop me from getting my exercise and enjoying where we are. I took a hike through Water Canyon today and had a great time sightseeing along the way. Later, I took another, slower walk in the evening and enjoyed a lovely sunset.
Photo Description:
1) This is Water Canyon Road which leads from the town of Winnemucca, Nevada and goes through Water Canyon. We're staying at the campground in the canyon.
2) The road leads higher and higher into the mountains of Sonoma Peak.
3) I saw a Desert Spiny Lizard (Sceloporus magister).
4) The road passes through a small forest of quaking aspen trees (Populus tremuloides).
5) Although it is a desert environment there are a few big trees in the area.
6) I saw bushels of elderberries (Sambucus nigra) about a mile and a half up the road.
7) I had a great view on my way back down.
8) At this point I could see for many miles, which is pretty great considering how bad the smoke has been recently.
9 & 10) I took an evening walk and enjoyed watching the sunset. This was just a couple hours before making this post.
