I'm back in Idaho. I'm at a recreation area near Orofino, Idaho. We've been bouncing around a bit, as we tried to secure a cool spot for the upcoming holiday and expected heatwave. We're living fancy here, with electric and water hookups. There's a beach here with a nice view of the Clearwater River. There's also a nature trail that runs along the river where I can go hiking. Photo Description: 1 & 2) This is the sandy beach with a lovely view of Clearwater River. 3) Yup. There's clear water in Clearwater River. 4) We took our dog Coffee to the beach. She can't wait to jump in wherever there's water. 5) Coffee loves a beach so much and she's so clever. She figured out that if she gets really wet she can roll in the sand and bring a bunch of the beach back to the camper with her. 6) The banks of Clearwater River. 7) This is the hiking trail that runs along the river's edge. It's only a little over a mile in length, so not as long as I'd like. 8) While hiking the trail I get great views of Clearwater River. 9) Not only does our campsite have electric and water, we also have a picnic table, fire ring and a barbecue. We literally have it made in the shade.

😂@Katsolo!! It's pretty private, Kat. Even in the midst of a pandemic, we've managed to avoid getting so much as a cold since sometime in 2019. (Knock wood!) I guess you could say it's our own private Idaho, Arizona, Nevada, California, Montana, Washington, and Oregon, because that's where we've been this year. We haven't actually been to Oregon yet, but we're headed there next. 😊

I love eastern Oregon and eastern Washington. There is much beauty out there. If you haven't been to Mt. St. Helens, spend a couple of days there.

#B52s and your own private Idaho. Oregon is my state. If you get a chance to drive thru Mahleur Forest to see the yellow lace pines do so. Feels like something Dr Seuss dreamed up! Lots more to see as well.

It sounds like the perfect trail for him, Sweet_Marie. It's not a difficult trail, right along the river through the trees.

Thanks for the travel tips! Mt. St. Helens is not on our route for this year, but it's definitely on my bucket list. We'll be fairly close to Mahleur Forest pretty soon. On your recommendation, I'm gonna try to go see the yellow lace pines. They sound cool!

While it's not been a super active fire season, there were/are (?) fires 🔥in that part of Oregon and other parts. Google "Oregon wildfire map" to check. Looks like the Indian Creek Fire is active but not really close on Hwy 26 in Mahleur National Forest. Do you have a list of Oregon sites you plan to visit?

We have a list, sk. It's all mapped out. We're just gonna be on the eastern edge of Oregon. We watch the fire alerts. So far none have been close to us. If the forest isn't on fire, we may try a day trip deeper into Oregon to see it. I'll hafta see where we're gonna be closest to it and how far away it is.
