Flying home today after breakfast with Mom & DS, and on high alert as this is my problem day when traveling. I'm happy that my eating has been good... Or as good as it can be while away, but today is the real test... And I think I'm up for the challenge & mentally prepared to begin unwiring the pattern in my mind, one step at a time. I've logged for the day and will journal as much as I can & need. While I'm sad to be saying goodbye, I'll see DS in about a month for thanksgiving & will come back to see Mom in Jan. I'm not necessarily proud of this, but I'm feeling that I couldn't take much more time with Mom right now. I already know that for my next visit, I need to plan seeing her daily in short intervals & include friends & relatives as much as possible. And as DS & I learned, it's best to talk about things in her past as she has the best recollections of those times, play cards with her (her favorite pastime), show her photos or read short articles with her. I now have another journey to navigate with Mom in addition to the one I'm navigating toward healthy eating & living.

I didn't sleep well last night & finally just got up & wet to workout early this morning, so I'll have to be on extra high alert as fatigue always also tries to masquerade as hunger. "Am I hungry... Truly?" Is the question I must keep asking myself throughout the day to keep on the mindful eating road I'm tying to build.

Well, it's time to get on my way, but not without praying for serenity, and reminding myself that on this one day, and each one day, meal, moment, bite, emotion & feeling of fatigue, I'll pray, breathe, log, journal & express my way. I'm grateful today for each of you & your never ending support, my family & IRL friends, having had this time with Mom & DS, and having the health & wealth to live this life I love! Xoxox

Morning my dear friend...getting no sleep is a trigger for getting hungry..there is sooo many things in our life that will trigger our hunger pains..Like you said we have to ask our self if we are really wanting food or just feeding the situation...It took me awhile to get that in my head...but I still revert back...Sooooo easy...Have a safe trip and have a great Sunday...Love and Hugs...:O)

Good Morning..Have a safe flight home. I'm happy you had a good visit although bittersweet. I think that planning ahead and knowing and accepting what your mom can remember and converse about is wonderful for both of you. Many times we can get down when our expectations are too high. Knowing your moms limitations will make your visits with her mother easier and less stressful for you. I know how hard this is for you and you know that you shouldn't feel guilty for anything you are feeling right now. Take care and know I am thinking about you!

Saying goodbye is always tough but "there is no place like home". Because of your self awareness I am sure you will get through this day with your usual degree of success.
