I was pretty skeptical when my PCP looked at me straight in the eyes and said you don't need excercise to loose weight if you can't because of the fibromyalgia I said "lol yea right" now almost 80lbs down I can say she was right haven't excercised once.

This is true. I have lost a lot not exercising, just by watching what I was eating. I added it in because I was lighter and some days felt more energized. But, with Fibro, RA... etc, we get fatigued, we have pain, and when I cannot exercise due to both, I can still lose weight. Right now I use the pool as much as I can.

jcmama, absoluletly don't get me wrong when you hit goal weight I'm a true believer of working out to tone and shape the trouble area like arms, lower tummy, and inner tigh don't like cellulite and saggy skin plus serotonin uncrease is a plus natural high😉. Swimming is great I don't have a pool though own a condo and pool closed due to Covid😔 but I use to go to ymca to do warm excercises and sauna to relief sore muscles best therapy for us with Fibro.

Tr3, I agree. I'm unable to exercise (except for swimming, not available now) and I also have lost over 80 pounds; eating 1500-1600 calories a day, I might add).

so true. in my 20s I worked out 5 days a week and didn't care about nutrition. now I've gotten really good results with moderate exercise and tight control of my nutrition. I was so backwards

This is good advice. We all find this out as we become older and less active. Athletes, kids, etc can get away with it for a while. Your ability to eat more doesn't go away as you age, your activity level drops. All of my fellow co-workers find out fast that when you become more sedentary the pounds pile on. You go from working an active job to sitting for 8 hours and you gain 30-40 pounds in a year or less. I gained the same amount when I started there. Now I stand or use a stationary bike at work and can get away with 3k calories a day and still lose or at least maintain my weight.

I love to eat and I love to exercise but I'd have to exercise 23 hours a day to consume all I wish I could. 😐😁

shirfleur, congrats that's awesome because I know how hard it is. My calorie intake varies too but I try to stay under 1400 a day but if I do go a little higher it tends to be something really high in fat and fiber which help me actually burn fat.

onepoint yes I've actually lost weight both ways but this time without excercise I've actually mantained better because I changed my way of eating and how much I eat of certain foods so that even when I don't excercise I'm still burning fat and not gaining weight because of less activity it's doable.

Gibjib, yes because you can go a long time without being able to excercise because life happens ie. Accidents, illness, etc. You don't want to experience a drasctic change in your activity level and gain 30 lbs fast because you never learned how to control what you eat.

Davidsprincess, yea me too lol only one meal of what I ate before added up in calories for 4 meals I eat now it's crazy.
