Here are a few critters I saw on my walk in southeastern Idaho today.

1) Mountain Cottontail (Sylvilagus nuttallii)

2) This shy chipmunk was hiding from me in the bushes. These chipmunks are the smallest chipmunks in the world.
Least Chipmunk (Neotamias minimus)

3) American Goldfinch (Spinus tristis)

Love them Lonnie. My ex once brought home three baby cottontails whose nest he had inadvertently destroyed while clearing some land. They were so tiny the three of them would sleep in the toe of my slipper. They grew up and we'd take them out into the yard to let them roam until they finally went out into the field next door and, hopefully, made it on their own.

I'm glad you like the 360° photos, Melissa. I love them too. You should see them in VR (virtual reality). I have a VR headset I use, and it's like your standing inside the picture. Those are Saguaro cacti, and yes there are forests of them, but in the US they only grow in Arizona and in Imperial County, California. They also grow in a relatively small area in Mexico. A Saguaro can grow to 40 feet tall, and has to be at least 75 years old before it will begin to grow its first arm, so that one in the picture has to be very old. I like your fence and sign idea, but Arizona did better than a fence. In Arizona the Saguaro are protected. Even on private property, it's against the law to harm them. You can obtain a permit to move them, but you mustn't harm them. Here's a picture I took in a Saguaro forest at Catalina State Park in Arizona, so you can see some areas are teeming with them. https://flic.kr/p/2bceDvF

That's such a sweet story, Shir! You're such a nice person. I tried that once when I was a teenager with some baby possums whose mother was a victim of roadkill. It didn't turn out very well. I think they were too young to be away from mom. Well done on raising those bunnies, Shir! I know that couldn't have been easy, in the beginning especially. Bravo to you! 👏

Oh, it would be fun to use a VR! The only "desert" I've been to is in Oregon and northern Nevada! I loved it! Someday I'll see those Saguaro! You sure do become educated about your ever changing surroundings. What a classroom!

I remember seeing that picture already! 😁 What a cool "forest." How tall do you think the many armed one from the 360 photo is? It is hard to imagine without anything with which to compare. 😁
