Our end of harvest meal at Red Lobster :). I did enjoy it! Ate half of what is pictured. Also had 3 biscuits and 3 mozzarella sticks :).  

Good for you! It does look like it would taste so good! I eat a lot but I could only eat half of that piece of steak although I would want to eat more. You deserved it!

Kat, why do you miss steak? Did you cut it from your diet? Too expensive right now? We have a ‘meat shortage’ in stores right now. They have it but they jacked the price up. $7.50/# of 80/20 ground beef! Thankfully we buy from local farmers and butcher. Raising some of our own right now and if they turn out tender and flavorful we will do it again next year. By looking at store ads I was able to find some petite sirloins a few weeks ago really cheap.  

Ireland, I didn’t deserve it lol because all I did during harvest was drive the kiddo to work, follow equipment occasionally and take lunch to the kiddo and hubby. I am mommy and daddy for the week of harvest and the week of planting afterward. (No moisture so planting is out off until it rains) It’s a tradition to sit down for a nice restaurant meal once harvest is over to celebrate. The in-laws will invite the crew (basically us, them and a nephew and SIL) for another dinner once the bins are measured and we see what the wheat made. Was just glad to finally get an evening with the hubby and kiddos without interruption and worrying about the farming. This morning he finished what needed to be done with the harrow (distribution of straw evenly across the fields he cut) so we may make it to the gym again!  

a combo. I'm not shopping for myself, it's crazy expensive and they want you to buy more than I want all at once. I also am not the best at cooking it the way I like it so I prefer to get it when we eat out so I can enjoy all the decadence of it. I really want to go to the Brazilian barbecue place. They are my favorite.  

It takes a lot of practice to cook steak the way one likes it. I have kids that like well done, I and one kid like medium and hubby likes rare lol. I could do it on the grill but I haven’t used it in a few years. Probably couldn’t get it right if I tried right now lol. Red Lobster is one of the few places I’ve found that cooks my steaks the way I like it. So many places here under cook or over cook. If you have a large freezer you can check into local cattle ranchers. They’ll sell it by the 1/4 sometimes. That would take up a full shelf in a big upright freezer. It would give you ground beef, a couple roasts, Tbone, sirloin etc for around $5-7/# overall. A bit expensive on the ground beef side but super cheap for the steaks. Not many people have an upright or chest freezer though.  

That’s it. It’s the practice thing. I like what i like and i don’t do it often enough to get good at it. I’ve almost bought the freezer a couple times, but there’s really just no good place to put one.

They have three steaks right now. Limited menu with everything going on. Hubby and the girls like seafood but not me.
