I’m struggling to get things going with losing weight. I need to build in some more accountability. I’m doing well overall, and at least I’m not gaining. I just have a tendency to snack and not pay attention to it. I mindlessly munch here and there, but only track actual meals. In order to get that under control, I’m going to be sharing more with all of you. I’m going to take pictires of my meals and summarize each day at the end of the day. This community is encouraging and helpful. I’m asking for that kind of support. 😊

You can do it. I limit snacking by making myself check my log to see how much I've eaten..💜

That is a great plan, and you absolutely can do it! Weighing, and recording every bite makes a huge difference for me. It is too easy to misjudge how much I have had. Then I slack off or don't count those darn snacks! 😁 Cheering for you!

If you can possibly do it, log as you eat. If you can see a running total of your calories, it might slow down the snacking if you know you need to save xx# of calories for dinner. And after dinner if you've used all your calories you can tell yourself....that's it...no more snacks for the day.

I love to snack as well, so I just make sure I include it into my meal planning. Something I do is figure out how many calories I’m allowing myself to eat and set aside a specific amount of calories (or close as possible without being too crazy) for those 3 meals, but I also reserve calories for snacks as well and make sure to log them as I go. You got this!!!

To go along with what peter said, sometimes in the morning, I will go in and log what I plan on eating for the day, and I will log in 3-4 snacks that I might like to eat, that way if I feel like snacking, I choose from something I’ve already logged and accounted for so I’m not going over! If I don’t end up eating it all, I just delete it, but if I do, not a big deal🤗 hope this helps!!!

Self-accountability is a good motivator, Patricia🤙🏼 I'm a classic snacker...chips, nuts, popcorn, etc. at all times of the day. I joined FS in Aug 2019 and faithfully tracked my meals and weight, which made a big difference in learning how to eat better and smarter. This can be a great forum for encouragement, support, and tools to successfully reach your weight loss goals. Check out member profiles/journals/posts for those who are consistent, focused, and health minded. Beware of members who use FS for a personal diary or social outlet because YOU deserve more than just a "chat room" to stay on the path to your best life!

Snaking is fine if it’s 0 calories snack :)) cut yourself carrots or cucumbers, steamed broccoli and keep it near by when you know you usually want to chow on something.After a while you will stop looking forward to snacking, the excitement part of snacking will fade away and hopefully you will get over this habit . Everyone has given you such great ideas. I think I do something similar to Peter. I figure out how many calories I want to eat for the day, then divide by four. Since I eat five total meals… three of those main meals and two or snacks… I divide one of those numbers by two that way I know what each snack should be as far as calories and what my three main meals should be. FS is great for accountability, just don’t forget to log your food. Maybe even try writing it down on a notepad as you’re putting things together so you don’t forget to add anything when you log it. I'm in a similar boat. agree with everyone who pre-allocates snacks in a meal plan, very helpful for me. I "meal prep" at the beginning of the day so I have them ready to go without thinking, going to pantry, etc. I found the best "defense" was just throwing out things, though. I have weak discipline, so if I have chips I'll eat a whole bag. Not a problem if there aren't any in the house!

In addition to the recommendations, I buy the 1 oz bags of chips. You can get boxes at Costco or Walmart and smaller packs at grocery stores. I also buy 1 oz servings of nuts or trail mix from Trader Joe’s. Single serving snacks are critical to my success. I can snack and limit it to one snack a day either the nuts or the chips.

get your hands and mind busy with other things and when you really need to reach for something, breath, think and if really needed grab some veggies or fruit <3
