was on keto 3 years ago and lost like 30 pounds. i got off of it after like 6 months and i gained a bunch of weight back. i have been on and off the keto trian for the last year and it just doesnt seem to be working for me at all. i stopped keto the first of 2020 and started calorie counting with my fitness pal. I am loving it!! I can eat anything i want to, in moderation , as long as i have the calories left to eat it. The calorie counting seemed annoying at first but now i find it fun to record and monitor what goes into my body. I can still eat chinese if i really want to save my calories for that, or have a couple slices of that yummy cheese pizza. I have lost 13 pounds and i am so excited!!! I am not saying Keto doesnt work, because it did for me the 1st time. Maybe I wasnt doing it right, I am not sure, however, I am loving this new Calorie counting lifestyle for me these days. Heres to a healthier Life!!! keep up the great work guys !!!!

It's the key. CICO. Most people are not cut out for restrictive dieting like keto. Your post is exactly why I feel that flexible dieting is the true diet "hack".

Awesome! You'll see the same keto people on fs lose a bit, come back heavier than ever, never try anything else - right back to keto until they binge again. It only works for those who can do it forever.

Agree with Diablo! I found flexible dieting works best for me. I can save calories for a daily snickers if I want or have a big dinner. Just skipping breakfast allows me those extra calories :).

yeah , thank you all for the high fives :) back at you all. i come to realize keto just wasnt for me. I am also learning that its the quality of the foods i eat that are better than quanity. I think we ought to be able to eat what we want within moderation. thats all. I also am finally learning that weight loss is a marathon and not a sprint,. it takes time to lose, the healthy way ......

what works for you is awesome, I like Intermittent fasting because I may get a little hungry in the morning then when I start eating I can really choose from a variety of food and feel so satisfied. I also enjoy having a certain amount of time to worry about eating I eat during 8 hours and it is hard to cram calorie count into 8 hours. Keep up the good work.

Keto is not "restrictive dieting", it is a selective way of eating.

Keto restricts your carbs to very low levels, for most 20 g or less a day. To me that seems restrictive...

I’ve found that the more I say “I can’t” have something the more I want it. I am most successful when I allow myself to eat the things I love in moderation. One of my docs does Keto and loves it but she watches me eat bread! Lol! JK!! Kudos to you for knowing what works for you.

Tomayto, tomahto; selective, restrictive . . . different pronunciations, different perspectives. I like the foods I eat in my keto WOE and do not feel restricted. Eat what you enjoy and what works for you.

Call it what you want, we are all on restrictions. Flexible dieters are restricted in the amount of calories. Keto makes it worse by being restricted to a certain amount of carbs on top of the calorie restriction. Calorie counting is also restrictive I can't say it isn't. That would be a lie.
