So I was 🏡 today because I had my specialist visit with Rheumatologist. I take off because it’s usually a long day and my doctors are only in on my work days. I am being referred to orthopedic for bilateral shoulder injections. There getting worse. Anyone had that done? Is it painful? She said it is systemic so I can expect some water retention and swelling. I mean, what am I going to do🤷🏻♀️ I’m being kept on my Plaquenil 200 mg twice a day, but I’m officially starting Methotrexate today. I shouldn’t be having the break through mini flares as many as I had or the severe in tears flares. Clinically I had joint swelling and sumo it is on exam while on Plaquenil. Question... anyone else on Methotrexate or both? Also getting put on folic acid and 50,000 IU Vitamin D.

My son took methyltrexate for severe plaque psoriasis (a side-benefit they found for it's rheumatoid use). It worked very well for the psoriasis, but it made him deathly ill - well, not really DEATHLY ill, but that's how he describes. On the bright side, he lost a lot of weight very quickly from being so sick. The GOOD NEWS is that everyone reacts to medications differently, and it may work GREAT for you with absolutely NO side effects!

Thanks Debbie 😊 I was told it may really make me sick to my stomach and if it continues then I’m going to get the injection form of methotrexate. I have a paper on it but didn’t see anything about weight side effects lol. It’s totally going to weaken my immune system so masks at work probably all year round due to having severe asthma, you get really sick, really quick. I have to have monthly blood work now too because of the new medication and I’m going back again in 3 months and 3 months after that. Super thorough doctors 🙌

Thank you silkian and acomandr 🤗 I will take positive vibes all day everyday 🥰☺️ I’m a little anxious. Quite the visit today. My stomach has been upset since this morning and my prescriptions aren’t ready, I might better wait till tomorrow to start it.

Don't get discouraged because ONE person had a bad reaction to it - if it wasn't helpful to a LOT of people, it wouldn't have been on the market for so long (he took it about 15 years ago!) Praying it will work WONDERFULLY well for you!

50000 IU D !!! I take 25000 IU weekly. Since 2012 i do both knee hyalouronic acid injections. I had lots of severe asthma crisis until age 13. And some as an adult. You have lots of health issues making your life hard. Stay strong.

Tassos67, chronic vitamin D deficiency. I’m always deficient unless I’m on the 50,000 IU weekly. Seems to be a component of autoimmune disorders. Do your knee injections hurt?? Does it give you relief? I’m looking at steroid injections for my shoulders. By systemic, I meant the steroid, so the water retention and swelling. Every visit I hear I have crepitus knees🤦🏻♀️ I figured by losing weight, my knees would feel better. I keep getting on my stairclimber though 🤗🙌💪 Severe asthma is not fun and you know, we get ill easier. Thank you friend 😊💜💚 We are just going to keep on keeping on💪

I worked orthopedic/sports medicine before transferring to family practice and our doctors did a lot of injections (especially knees and shoulders) the patients did say the pain of receiving them was worth it. I really hope u get some relief 🙏🏻 I am also on 50,000 IU of vitamin day weekly and it helps me so much. Sounds like ur in good hands ❤️

have you ever tried physical therapy? I have psoriatic arthritis and recently my flare up consists of horrible back pain. couldn't bend, sit nothing. the worst pain. started on humira and physical therapy.. my back pain is almost completely gone. the back pain was decreasing before i started humira so i know it wasn't just from that alone.
