If you're over 50, the Keto diet is too high in fat for you. But you can do it in a low fat version, you won't go into ketosis, but you will lose a lot of weight. My brother did keto for 2 years, but had to have his gall bladder removed due to the high fat foods and was told to stop doing it. I did the low fat, low carb Dash diet for weight loss and lost a similar amount of weight as he did on Keto.

CICO (SEESO) calories in calories out is still the best method to losing weight. I agree eating low carb will help you lose weight quicker but high fat diets generally lead to heart problems.

Ok, thanks. I’m not on any particular diet. Just trying to stay within 1300 calories/day and exercising. I have greatly reduced my carbs, eliminated junk food and fast food entirely and reduced portion sizes. The idea of purposely throwing my body into the ‘starving state’ of ketosis freaks me out a little.
