Back in July 2018 I changed my way of eating. I’ve had extremely high cholesterol, a gift from my family, forever. I’ve been hopeful it would help and yet very worried that my new WOE would make my cholesterol worse, so I avoided the blood test and went overdue by six months, but healthcare insurance matters mandated it be done by 11/30. Had my blood draw yesterday, and this morning I’m so very happy with the results! My cholesterol has never been this low (maybe it’ll even be lower in six months, enough to get me off statin drug), and most noteworthy is the fact that the ratio that indicates risk of developing heart disease went from 5.9 to 3.1!

Studies are true...eggs, butter and red meat do not promote high cholesterol; inflammation in the arteries caused by

Sugar is to blame!

Great news! I eat a ketogenic diet, and found all of my numbers except "good" cholesterol were reduced.

Are you fasting intermittently? That helps the most.

I remember years ago my moms Dr put her on a no cholesterol diet (no egg, red meat and etc) she reported back 6 months later for her blood work. When the Dr got her results back she still had high cholesterol. He called her and said Barb go get yourself the biggest T-bone steak you can find. This was like 30 years ago. She still has high cholesterol.

Yeah cholesterol often improves on keto. Mine does as well

Mine is the opposite, since I've reached 72. As long as I just leave off the bacon and sausages, my Chlosterol stays around 177, below 200. No Chlosterol meds, yah!

There is such a thing as a genetic familial cholesterol issue but not all cholesterol issues in a family are genetic. Look at the people in the family with the cholesterol issues. Obese? Poor diet, etc. there is now a blood test (thanks to science) that can test for that gene. Mostly found in the Northern European population (Germany and Scandinavian countries) if you carry that gene there is almost no way to control the deadly cholesterol levels except with statins. If you are concerned about a genetic family issue ask your doc. For the test.
