Sorry... hard to write their names in English. Think many of you wouldn’t like these because of their intense and irrepressible spiciness.

Here is a recipe of the Korean fried chicken in English.

You can also make it less spicy with honey butter & garlic or soy sauce.

I never give up my favs. It would not be sustainable. I found a way that works for me that fits how I love to cook and also fits my life. It lets me play with food-- I LOVE to cook. It might be that it fits in in moderation. BTW the bold flavors of Korean cooking can help moderate your eating--(my theory) .

liv001, they are the best beer food! Very thin and light crust, moist meat and delicious sauce! used to order delivery fried chicken in Korea all the time. American fried chickens are not the same.

wholefoodnut, I’ve been refraining myself from eating these high-calorie foods during the weightloss period because portion control doesn’t work for me and that’s why I had failed to lose weight 135 times before, lol. Those rice cakes, noodles and white rice went straight to my belly and made me addicted to refined carbs. I’ve recently done a really hard work to lose fat so I don’t think I’ll go back to the old unhealthy eating habits. Will probably save these for special occasions, not as a daily meal thing, once I reach my goal weight.

keyten, wish we could go to a Korean restaurant together someday! 💕 I’ve gained weight in the States as well because I’ve been eating too much instant/fast foods and these quick-and-easy Korean treats in the pic. In Korea, there’re tons of other healthy eating options (and lots of walking to avoid traffic jam) so it was easier to control weight.

Whatever plan you follow it has to be sustainable for you and your family. Those here who know me know that is my mantra. Your roots and your family can be a huge influence on what works for you. A "diet" with an end and then you go back to old habits and gain the weight back. Was there repeatedly. If it's not working for you, you might want to take a look at your normal foods and adapt them to a healthier plan-- substituting whole foods for refined ones. ie: brown or red rice for the white, Japanese buckwheat noodles for the white ones. Do what you need to for you, if it works that is amazing. . I saw your foods and love the bold flavors of Korean cooking. Believe me I will support whatever works for you.

wholefoodnut, I really know what u mean, and I do appreciate your advice. 😊 I’m going to do more regular cooking after reaching my goal. In fact, I see my journey here as a lifestyle change for the rest of my life. Most of these Korean treats in the pic are not very healthy meal options that contain too much carbs with few nutrient values, and I was just addicted to them like many Americans are addicted to frozen pizza. Kinda soul food to me. But I knew I needed a change to improve my health. I do still have cravings for these but can be controlled as my taste buds are now too sensitive to tolerate their intense flavors and I’m fine without them. There are actually too many other options to choose from even among whole foods and the healthy Korean homemade meals that I like. Like I said, I might still have some of these on special days. However, cutting out refined carbs has really worked well for me and you’ve seen my progress. Believe me, my purpose of dieting has been also about finding a “sustainable” better way of life. 😉

I think it is important to identify what you issues are and change your life accordingly. If you do not you will just end up in the same spot quick enough

I totally agree, liv001. Have to let go of some of my favs, especially if they were the main culprits for excessive body fat and blood sugar/insulin spikes. And these treats are particularly hard to be substituted. They still need to be deep-fried, soaked in sugary red sauce, and are not the same if not. The top left one is still 90% carbs even if substituted with brown rice cakes and buckwheat noodles while just losing its original flavors. Hopefully I’ll crave these less and less over time and do more cooking for my healthy favs.
