Painful.  

Sorry it sucked for you! Funny story- When my now 6th grader got off the bus her first day of 1st grade, she loudly and proudly announced- "Well- I got my first ugly friend!" Diablo and I were dying. Anyhow- try to enjoy the rest of your day!  

😂😂😂😂😂 OMG!!! Velvetee... I always feel the same way about kiddie bday parties. I always bring my big purse - I usually bring something to eat (there is rarely enough food for adults or crappy kid food like hot dogs and whatnot), some bottled water (cause they usually just have soda), and some tea bags (I usually need a caffeine jolt before it's over). I felt bad once, and I am embarrassed to say, a distant cousin of mine daughter came around the corner as I was coming down the stairs - I screamed for reasons you mentioned above. I tried playing it off and after my knee jerk scream said "Oh my God. You are just sooo cute!" Not a shining moment - but hey, it happened. I am introvert too so I understand the whole recharge thing. Me and my bf have decided to slow down on going to the family events because of that.  

Yes their happiness is the most important part. 🐎

Dp lol. Well my last comment of a sort was at 25+ I think. Then I just stopped talking otherwise it does not match people’s expectations and I feel awkward because they think I am a monster. So I spent those 3 hours on my chair, observing the hell and listening others’ trivial tribulations.

AMT you made me laugh 🤭 😂 I am so overwhelmed by having to deal with the world during the day that I almost never go out. My parents/brother love quite far so I see them rarely. Going to a restaurant is usually my wildest social adventure, mostly one on one. If I do something more than that it’s because I have to. Like that birthday party. Or corporate incentive. It’s very painful, I wish I enjoyed doing tho g more, other that sticking to screens or books.. thank you for your kind words 🤗  

Rosio I don’t put my child before myself actually. I think I should take care of myself first because I won’t be able to take care of him properly if I don’t. But sometimes I have to put up with things that make him happy even if I hate it. 🌵

I am INTJ so socializing is painful. In fact, when I first came to the FS forum I think I was even pretty cautious about that - couldn't get around the concept of virtual strangers being all buddy buddy. But, have since got comfortable. I go to events out of obligation (and their is ALWAYS an event, blah) but would much rather be home with a good book. I'm much better one on one - hate big gatherings and small talk. I am usually the weirdo playing with all the kids or cuddling with an animal instead of having a conversation with an actual adult.  

Chris I don’t think it’s only type related even if there is definitely a certain correlation. Typology is one of my interests, I am a certified practician in socionics which is another Jung spin off. I like it better because it’s less simplistic compared to MBTI, where test accuracy is 70% at best. I read every source possible including Jung himself. I also type by functions and I have my own correlation between different spin offs and other typologies like big5 or Enneagram. In MBTI, I was “diagnosed” INTJ following a two day profiling session at work, step I and step II. I guess you self type ENTP. Yes I survived the party, hurray! I can fake the social one from time to time, it takes me tho inhuman efforts. I was sick all night, it’s always the same symptoms..

Hah AMT I hate animals and children. I know, horrible to say. Both are intrusive, mostly loud and unpredictable.  

Dude, I mean Chris, because it feels insulting to me to call you so. I don’t mention things I don’t know, only what I have studied extensively. I used to read dictionaries as a hobby in my teens. Maybe I am not weird, I might be a dinosaur or a hen or just a piece of poop, still it does not invalidate my UX experience with social stuff, which is excruciating. 

What is normal anyway? Depends on the people you deal with. Just like about the whole beauty concept, which is in the eye of the beholder. Compare it between earlier centuries and Chanel, so many criteria apart.

If there is a dog sitting quietly on a couch, that is where I will be. The last family event of my bfs I went to, I stayed outside throwing a ball with his son to avoid small talk with everyone. 

AMT, I just don't go haha. My last big family event was my father's 60th birthday 3 years ago. So 2 more years of tranquility haha 

Funny thing is, based upon our interactions here, if I saw y’all at a party or function, I bet we’d chat the whole day away.
