Many people weigh daily but I definitely try to weigh weekly because I fluctuate a little from day to day, and when the number goes up, I find it demotivating - I like the steady downward trend. Having said that, even weekly I sometimes get a number I'm not happy with - and I may sneakily re-weigh the next day... hard to resist. :(

I weigh daily and love having a record of it. It's very up and down but that's fine with me because the overall trend is down. If I'm irritated because I've been the same weight back and forth, I can see that it was like that in the past prior to a larger drop...etc... But I'm a record keeper and I like numbers and I like looking back on things. I guess it depends on your personality. Other advice...find a way of eating you can stick to and do your own research. Actually you're making me think - when weighing daily, you're also putting yourself in that head-space FIRST THING, every day. That can be so important. I like being aware of myself and my body, and I tend to weigh myself after a "slip up" because I find it motivating (it's rarely as bad as I think it will be), and reminds me to stay on track!

Find a way that works for you and fits your life so you can sustain that way of eating even after you lose the weight. In most cases whole nutritious food and limiting junk foods no matter what the plan seems to help most people. Track your foods. If you try a plan that does fit your life, does not make you feel good, do some research and try something else. Stay away from extreme fad diets and magic diet potions. If you don't cook start cooking your own food.

Hi, and welcome! One of the things that’s helping me is a change in my way of looking at weight loss. This time I’m looking at it for the long-term and as a lifelong journey. I tell myself 1.) this is a marathon, not a sprint, so if I have an off-day or want to eat something I would’ve “banned” in the past, I eat it b/c today is just one day out of many, and in the big picture, I’m doing fine. And 2.) my goal is to eat healthier so I can be healthier; losing weight is a logical outcome of this, a “bonus” of sorts. These two things aren’t the only things I’ve picked up from other people here, but they’ve really helped me focus on the big picture. And this has helped me not do the stupid things I’ve done in the past to lose quickly and to not “sabotage” myself either. Best wishes to you! 😊🎈
