This weight journey is scary. What if I fail again is such a dangerous thought; I feel it sets one up for failure. The appropriate thought should be - I can do this. I need to be patient and consistent.

All of the snacks are out of the house and for that I am thankful. Snacking, especially at night, is a bad habit I've developed over time. CARBS! Good grief!!
They're the worst. I have plenty of alternatives that are healthy and good tasting.

I gave always been an emotional eater. It's so easy to grab an ice cream bar rather than an apple, it's so much easier to grab a bag of chips or a half dozen cookies rather than take a step back and think about what triggered the need for salt or sweet. I know if I take on too much all at once I will fail. One step at a time with patience and understanding.

I also do better when are the snacks and foods I shouldn't eat are out of the house.

No question, keeping temptation out of reach is critical. Intermittent fasting, starting with 9pm-9am (12:12 IF) helped me to break the snack habit. Most days, now, I'm up to 14-16 (14:10 or 18:8 IF) hours. If I eat something (especially if it's higher-carb), it's *always* in my "eating window."

good for you. getting rid of the cap in your house is a great start, it proves your commitment! one day at a time. one battle at a time. just keep swimming!

Missingme, my slogan is "DECIDE, then: COMMIT! PLAN! EXECUTE! REST! REPEAT!" Decide what you want to do and commit to the idea. The next -- and critical -- step is to PLAN. When I plan my meals a day ahead, everything is on hand. When I'm out running errands or whatever and think of picking up a "snack," I turn my thought to my planned meal. It really helps. Rest is critical, too. I avoid electronics for at least an hour before I settle in for the night, reading from a printed inspirational book, devotional, or spiritual biography, and praying. That helps, too.

With kids in the house it is so hard to keep snacks out so I bake to replace and then try to have willpower. So far so good! I take it one day at a time and try to remember I'm human and I will make mistakes.

I'll also echo the no eating after a certain time. I don't normally eat after 7pm and then don't eat until I'm up for a little bit.

I can not do no carbs entirely or it makes me crave them so bad Ill binge. Instead I allow none from monday through friday, then on the weekends I can have as much as I want. So far weight loss has been slow and steady because just those two days isnt enough to undo the caloric shortage over the course of the other five days. Id probably lose faster if I didnt do weekends, but past experience tells me Id probably have given up by now too and be back where I was, eating them every day and gaining.

Self awareness is key. If you’re aware of what triggers you to go for the carb options, slow down and talk yourself through. That’s helped me get through so many things, whether it be eating for comfort, or smoking, or isolating myself. You’ll be great at this!
