I just returned from vacation. Had a fabulous time on vacation, but boy is it easy to slip back in to bad habits. I am completely back on plan now. No more vacations until next summer, when I will be at or near my goal weight!
I learned a lot this week. For a back story, I am on keto, been eating this way since May 7, so about 3 months. I eat only when hungry (I don't always do what I should, but this is the plan) - only eat when hungry, low carbs- under 25 net, higher fat than protein and protein should not be above 100 g - the closer to 85 g the better.
So, I was with most of my family this vacation and I made us all breakfast, so it was a keto breakfast. Within an hour all my family was snacking on things like cheesy fries, ice cream, candy, etc. I was amazed at how often and how much they all ate and then thought, wow I also ate like this. They learned it from me :-(. My mind started to nudge me that this was vacation and I could eat more, so I started by just having one treat and went from there. Last night I found myself binging on candy. That woke me up!
I learned that this is a constant battle, that I have to stay mindful, that I have to be the influence on my family, not the other way around. I also learned that right now I cannot have one treat, it kicks off bad behavior for me.
So, overall, it was a great family time, it was a learning time, and I am all the better for all of it. Now to lose the weight!
