6/30/18 Saturday wt 194.0, fat scale 47.7 on day 3 of fast started 6/27 at 8pm.

Fast is going OK. Still have pain in knee but not crushing and no waves - just a general sharp pain when walking and 50% of time when just moving leg. Monthy pain ramping up since not taking any pain meds during fast. Hope it will be tolerable or I may break fast to take pain meds - not really sure fasting is good idea during this time of month anyway - concerned about iron loss and haven't researched it yet.

Turned in at about 10 last night but couldn't get to sleep. Once did, woke several times so sleep was very interrupted. A bit groggy and heavy headed this am, but took a walk into kitchen and put away some clean dishes.

Not hungry this am, but half the time I'm not hungry in am regardless of fast.

Took serrapeptase 40,000 at 7am. Hope it isn't kicking me out of autophagy - wondering what the mechanism for halting autophagy is.

Feeling optimistic.

Watched a great video last night - really making me think! Only saw first half of The Pleasure Trap video with Douglas Lisle, Ph.D - the first half (not sure of 2nd half) has nothing directly about eating or food and is all about happiness and pleasure and how we are wired. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxf4kj8Rb6Y - and it was enjoyable to watch and has really simple and clear explanations and examples. It has me thinking about happiness and pleasure in a new way.

Didn't consider that happiness and pleasure are separate mechanisms. Sure the goals make me happy – the goals are pleasurable. But the journey to worthy goals is where the happiness/unhappiness guide system takes place. The moods of happiness and unhappiness are the guides that keep me going towards the pleasurable goals. So when something takes me closer to my goal, it makes me happy and lets me know I’m on the right path and to keep going. When something takes me further from my goals, it makes me unhappy and that lets me know I’m on the wrong path and I need a course correction to reach my goals. Being unhappy and not being on the right path is NOT something to be upset or angry about! It’s a guidance system to put me back on track! I love that! I give up being upset when something isn’t working and take on being thoughtful and accepting that there is simply something to shift to put me on the right path.
