Today hasn't been the best day ever, feeling slightly dizzy, headache and abit nauseated. I suppose it is because of the weather, it's been seriously warm for a long time. Anyways, I thought I might lack salt, or that I have been alittle bit dehydrated. Perhaps so, I have been drinking alot, and also added some salt, and I'm feeling a little better now.
I discovered this page from a facebook-post, and thought I'd give it a try. I have changed my diet years ago, and have during the last 5 years lost more than 100ibs/50kgs. The weight drops slowly, but steadily. I don't cheat on my diet, but I haven't set up a very strict diet either. I have changed the way I live, this is my forever-lifestyle. I will not starve myself, and I also want to have a diet that will give me enough vitamins and minerals through the food, not by pills. And I want to be more active. I still have a long way left, but I'm also very proud of my results so far. Weight lost, health gained, my condition is much better, and my motivation is still very good.

In this country we all eat way to many carbs. Cutting back significantly just makes sense for general health. I think you have found the winning formula for you. I totally support your philosophy and commend you on your success. I would like to follow your progress if that is OK.

Sure you can follow. I'm very new to this, so I don't really know how it all works yet, or how good I will be keeping up the diary and stuff. But I will try. What's mostly wrong with the way of eating in the western world (i'm european) is the combination of sugars/carbs and fat I think. I suppose that is the main reason to increasing weight troughout the population. That, and the fact that hard work/bodylabour is decreasing, and we sit still much more. My digestion was ruined because of ibs, and my body didnt absorb the vitamins/minerals, so even if I was extremely overweight my body thought it was starving. Switching to a cleaner and more natural diet, my digestion slowly got better, and I started to lose weight. I began to read alot about nutrition, and I have landed on this "philosofy" :) It has to be a change for life, short-term diets doesn't work for people with serious weightissues :)

I agree— I am not on a wt. loss journey myself. Long story as to how I ended up on FS., but I like that I can keep track of my nutrition. That is my focus.. if you choose not to share your wt or diet or your journal you don’t have to. And You can totally do it with good old fashion paper and pencil. I think logging the foods I eat, it is really helpful. FS is not perfect by any means but it works. Some really nice people here— everyone fighting the same battle but not all using the same programs. Good luck on your journey. You mentioned being European— where do you live. I’m in Southern California right down the street from Disneyland.

It became a weightlossjourney, but it's not my main focus anymore. I'm still losing weight, but it's kind of a sideeffect to better nutrition. It totally surprised me that it would have this effect on my health, because I didn't eat that unhealthy before either, but I ate things that my body couldn't handle, like grains, and that made me ill. And it kind of turned into a bad circle, now I'm on a good circle, and I intend to stay here. I think that perhaps if I do keep this diary public, I might use it more. Not sure, I'll figure it out on the way, I have kept track on my food every now and then for years, but not been part of a community, that part is new :) I live in northern Europe, in Norway. Far from California, I used to have relatives there, small village in the eastern part of California, my fathers cousin. Allways wanted to visit the California-coast, but it seems, the older I get, the more affraid of flying I get. Maybe someday :)

Norway!! Has been on my “to go” list for a long while. Iceland as well. One of these days I will just up and do it.

Your strategy sounds great. Especially since it's mine. LOL. Anyone thinking Iceland sgould Google WOW. It's the Icelandic Airway and has incredibly low fares.
